Art Speaks When
There Are No Words
A Texas May Rolls Into a Sultry June

Warm days and heavy air tell us that a slower pace in life is needed.  The trees are bedecked with a verdant green and the hills roll lush with grasses. The June Bug tappings have diminished (We should call them April Bugs), and the earthworms  wiggle through the soil.  Tomatoes are turning red and flowers fill the gardens. Summer nears.

Life is a curiosity, all the beauty, yet all the tragedy.  Let us celebrate each day and relish all that we have, that we enjoy and that we love.

Summer Painting Workshops

Ken Muenzenmayer Acrylic Classes:  Learn the Muenzenmayer Method of Painting with Acrylics which focuses on the versatility of this medium.  With acrylics you can achieve the transparency of watercolor, the luminosity of oil, and the softness of pastels.  These classes will address the mixing of colors on the palette and the layering of colors in the painting to crate glowing and luminous results.  Various techniques of dry brush and scumbling on a textured surface will be discusses along with the preparation of these surfaces and other materials.  Strong composition combined with an understanding of color and knowledge of various painting techniques will help to enhance your own paintings and bring a new emotional depth to them.  Bring your own materials or allow me to provide them for an additional $40.
$50 a lesson, $250 for the month of July

Enid Wood Pastels with a Brush:   Denver native Enid Wood fell in love with pastels at age five, when she first saw portrait artists in the Plaza in Santa Fe. She studied portrait, figure, and still life painting in college and earned a BA degree in Art Education. Later, she studied art history in an interdisciplinary masters degree program at Yale. Painting is her second career, after 30 years as a violin teacher, mostly in England. An ad in Pastel Journal led her to a plein air workshop in Santa Fe with Albert Handell and a second career as a painter. Her colorful paintings appear in numerous national and international exhibitions, and have been awarded a multitude of prizes. She enjoys brisk sales in galleries throughout the West. Enid has signature status in the Pastel Society of America and the Pastel Society of New Mexico. A frequent contributor to Pastel Journal, Enid also teaches pastel classes and workshops in Texas and New Mexico.
