Accrediting Bodies - What's the Difference?

Choosing the right accrediting body is a critical decision that can significantly impact an organization’s future. Before committing to an accrediting body, here are some key factors to consider.

Recognition for accreditation can be from the federal government or from a state government. The type of recognition can range from a mandate to some form of regulatory relief. A mandate requires an organization to be nationally accredited by an approved accrediting body for purposes of licensing/certifying, for contracting, and/or for Medicaid reimbursement. Regulatory relief may result in less paperwork and/or fewer governmental inspections for your organization.

Most often, the approved bodies include CARF International, Council on Accreditation (a division of Social Current) and The Joint Commission.

The Council on Accreditation (COA) and The Joint Commission post known recognitions on their websites.

Please feel free to schedule a free consultation to further discuss accreditation recognitions applicable to your organization and information to help select an approved accrediting body for your organization.
Speak Up Medications
Empower your clients with vital medication knowledge! The Joint Commission's latest campaign, Speak Up™ About Your Medications, offers an engaging video that's a must-watch for anyone taking prescriptions. This resource equips viewers with essential tips for medication safety, encouraging active participation in their healthcare journey.
Collaborative Care Impact on Reducing Disparities
A new study funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) sheds light on reducing disparities in mental health care. The study suggests that collaborative care intervention delivered in real-world settings significantly reduces post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms among patients from racial and ethnic minority backgrounds.
New Joint Commission Standard
Effective August 1, 2024, The Joint Commission’s Behavioral Health Care accreditation standards will include CTS.04.02.33 addressing evidence-based medications as a required component for the treatment of opioid use disorder (MOUD). This new standard has four (4) elements of performance (EPs).

If you treat persons with opioid addictions, AG consultants are available to assist you
in complying with this new standard and its EPs.

Accreditation Guru was able to co-host an executive happy hour with SigBee at The Front Porch, and we had a great night. We were able to make new connections, share ideas, and catch up with old colleagues. Thanks again to SigBee for collaborating with us; we can't wait for our next joint event!
CONGRATULATIONS!
We were happy to be a trusted partner with this organization as they achieved accreditation. Their hard work has paid off and we are celebrating their commitment to quality care!
