Drop-In American Mahjong

Turn your hidden knowledge, unvoiced lecture, or hot take into a zine!
A zine (pronounced "zeen," short for fanzine) is usually a self-produced magazine, most often photocopied and stapled by hand. In this workshop you will design a zine on a topic near and dear to you. This event will begin with a short presentation about the culture and history of zine making, followed by the opportunity to exercise your creativity and create your own zine. In the end, we will also combine everyone's zine to create a collective zine. Participants can either bring their project or create everything during the workshop. Registration required. This American musical action-comedy film directed by John Landis stars John Belushi as "Joliet" Jake Blues and Dan Aykroyd as his brother Elwood, characters developed from a recurring musical sketch on the NBC variety series Saturday Night Live. The film is set in and around Chicago, and the screenplay is by Aykroyd and Landis. Seeking redemption, and enlisting the help of musician friends, brothers Jake and Elwood are on a “mission from God” to raise money for an orphanage where they were brought up. The film features musical numbers by singers James Brown, Cab Calloway, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, and John Lee Hooker and non-musical supporting performances by Carrie Fisher and Henry Gibson. Lawrence of Arabia 3hr 42min (PG) 1962
Widely regarded as one of the greatest films ever made, this epic biographical adventure drama is based on the life of T. E. Lawrence and his 1926 book Seven Pillars of Wisdom (also known as Revolt in the Desert). Directed by David Lean, it was nominated for ten Oscars at the 35th Academy Awards in 1963, winning seven including Best Picture and Best Director. Starring Peter O’Toole as the legendary Lawrence of Arabia, it also stars Alec Guinness, Anthony Quinn, Anthony Quayle, Omar Shariff, and José Ferrer.
