3 Marketing Opportunities You’re Overlooking
Spring is in bloom—and for many people, this is a time when creativity is in full bloom, too. But if your bouquet of fresh ideas is not quite as lush as you’d like, that’s fine too, because now is the perfect time to plant new seeds...
We can help by suggesting three bursts of inspiration—and (aside from novelty itself) we’ll explain why each opportunity is at least worthy of a “spring fling”:
1) Google Maps. Quickly boost your foot traffic and sales by enhancing your presence on Google Maps. This entails creating a business profile and promoting your business when people are searching for terms that match your description—and they already happen to be nearby. You can get as crafty as you’d like—for example, we saw a local sandwich shop focusing entirely on wraps, because all of the nearby competitors were talking about “sandwiches” and “subs.” They had all of those things and more, but by focusing on wraps, they were carving out a competitive space in the local market for health food seekers.
2) Swag. Giving away branded swag is a known approach to getting your name out there. But are you giving away enough freebies within your own company? One company we know recently held a contest to give away an expensive athleisure set with its logo. Hundreds of employees entered! The winners now post photos wearing it to the gym, on planes, walking the dog—everywhere they go! It’s free advertising, as well as a sign of company pride. The trick is learning what products and brands your employees already like (such as Patagonia or RayBan) and choosing products they’ll wear publicly (as opposed to PJs). Another one we saw that we recently loved was branded AirPods—we take ours everywhere! And who’s going to say “no” to free AirPods?
3) Podcasts. This is one of the most underutilized opportunities for reaching niche audiences. Learn more about why this is a great option for certain companies, and how to take advantage of it, in our new blog post.
For the most part, we miss out on opportunities because we overlook them: We accidentally get stuck in our routines or locked into a singular perspective. Sometimes, stepping out of our comfort zone or asking for advice can help us discover exciting—and rewarding—new views.
