4 Shortcuts Every Marketer Should Learn
It’s crunch time as we roll into Q2. While some are seeing their workloads pick up after a sleepy winter season, others are gearing up for what promises to be one of the busiest falls since 2019. You might feel like you’ve gone from “the new normal” to “back to business” faster than you can say “I’ll send you a Zoom invite.”
No matter your schedule, it’s likely you’d welcome some tips to help you consolidate your workload—even if it just means shaving off a few minutes a day. Eventually, those add up!
Here are our favorite shortcuts to speed up your everyday tasks:
Scheduling emails. Have you ever written and sent an entire update before you’ve even started the work you’re updating someone about? Getting ahead of yourself with tedious check-ins can clear space for getting the real work done. You can get out of your inbox for hours at a time by scheduling everything you need to send out for a few days in one go.
Keyboard shortcuts! Teach yourself a few right now and start working them into your rotation. We recommend Alt + Tab (Windows) or Command+Tab (Apple) to easily navigate between your open windows. In a week, you’ll wonder how you ever got by without them. (They can also make you look a lot more smooth while screen-sharing in those aforementioned Zooms.)
Autocomplete. No, we’re not talking about the tool that makes your typos even worse on your phone; that’s autocorrect. But autocomplete does something similar, helping to guess the ends of your sentences or even supplying entire replies if you use certain email hosts, like Gmail or Outlook. You may need to enable this feature. If it looks right, just hit “tab” to accept.
Search bar formatting. This one is a real winner if you do even a little bit of research on the regular: Learn how to make your searches more accurate with a few simple formatting tricks. For example, adding quotation marks around certain phrases will ensure that all of your results match those words exactly; or if you preface your search with “site:” and a URL, you can search results only from within a specific domain. Again, we recommend spending a little time today to start incorporating a few search bar tricks into your routine.
We hope a few of these shortcuts help you accomplish your tasks just a little more efficiently; but if you want to gain even more time back and/or elevate your results, feel free to reach out for any additional support you might need to take you to the next level.
