Enjoy complimentary refreshments and live Jazz music performed by saxophonist Marquis McGee this Friday at the gallery from 5:30-9 pm. This First Friday reception marks the opening of our Featured Artists Exhibit, a presentation of recent works by Marie Merritt and Jenifer Lindsay Award-winning oil painter Marie Merritt draws inspiration from her native east Tennessee and southern Appalachia. She says "a painting is not about the painter, but the subject" and she hopes that viewers of her paintings are first drawn to the emotion and character depicted in them. Her paintings can be found in public and private collections throughout the US.
Artist Jennifer Lindsay fashions unique, one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces using various beading techniques and imported seed beads, focal beads, semi-precious stones or crystals. She says that she gets her inspiration "from everywhere-architecture, gardens and historical customs."
