2022-23 SCHOOL CALENDAR

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Greetings Primary Families,

May is here and the end of the school year is just around the corner. The last day for students is Friday, June 2nd with an 11:30 a.m. dismissal time. Parents, please be mindful when dropping off and picking up students from school. For safety reasons, students should only be dropped off on the school's main entrance side of the street. Students should not be crossing the street without an adult.


Our Kindergarten and 1st grades will be taking end of the year field trips May 23rd - May 25th. Please review the field trip criteria below. In addition, the PTO has many fun activities planned for the last day of school. Summer school enrollment is currently underway. Summer school begins on Monday, June 5th and runs through Friday, June 30th. There is still time to get your student enrolled. Have a great month!

Character Trait of the Month

The character trait for the month of May is Fairness. This means to be fair and just in dealing with everyone; treat everyone equally. Make decisions without playing favorites and don't take advantage of others. Don't blame others carelessly or unjustly. Take only your fair share, take turns, and share with others.

Lunch With A Friend

Students and families enjoyed our Lunch with a Friend days held April 11th - 14th. Our liaison officer Jake Lindbom, along with several other officers attended the luncheon as well. They had the opportunity to make great positive connections with the students and community members in attendance.

PBIS

Marinette Primary School is a PBIS school. What is PBIS? Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports is an evidence-based tiered framework for supporting students behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. It promotes safety as well as good behaviors.

April Character Trait Winners!

Our character trait for the month was Self-Discipline. These students displayed this trait in the classroom as well as in other aspects of school. Way to go everyone. Keep up the great work!

Menus

Attendance Policy

The Marinette School District expects 100% attendance for all students in accordance with the laws of Wisconsin. Parents are only allowed by state law to excuse their children for up to 10 days per school year.

*Excused Absence: Illness, doctor appointment, accident or death in the family.. Parents must call the school by 9:00 a.m. each day of an absence. A written notice of excuse must be given to the school upon return. If the student is out for an appointment, a doctor's note is required.

*Tardiness: A student who arrives after 8:05 am will be considered tardy and must be signed in by a parent/guardian. Students who arrive after 10:00 a.m. will be considered absent for the morning.

*Request for Early Dismissal: Parents/guardians requesting to pick up a child early for any reason must call the school building prior to picking up the child early. If a student leaves early prior to 2:00 p.m. it will be considered a half day absence.  Parents may also contact your child's teacher through SeeSaw.

*Unexcused absences: constitutes truancy and five unexcused absences is habitual truancy by state law.
