March 2024

March right into some library fun!

Pope Memorial Library; we are MORE THAN BOOKS! and that was clear in February. In addition to lots of new books on the shelves and three active book groups, we saw new art from Fabiana Walsh arrive to adorn the walls; knitting and baking groups coming together to create; an amazing family fun night in the library full of art, music, pizza, games, cookies and play-doh sculpting.

How are we going to follow that up in March? Well, here's a few ways.....we kick off the month with nonfiction lunch bunch and another team jigsaw puzzle competition (FUN!!).....Dine to Donate at Chef's Bistro (YUM!!!).....we'll host another family event, the third annual library egg hunt, generously sponsored by MWV Kiwanis (Fun AND Yum!).... and there will be a public reception with the artist Fabiana Walsh with light appetizers and drinks (AGAIN Fun and Yum!).

Do you need space to meet with your HOA, your partners, your employees or friends? Our conference and meeting rooms are equipped with necessary technology and are available by reservation. If you'd like to move your neighborhood book group to the library, we have space for that too, as well as book kits you can check out with 15 copies per bag. For more information call 603-356-2961 or email

The library annual meeting is Tuesday, March 5th at 5pm. The meeting is open to the public.

Have a great month, we hope to see you soon and often

Angela

Children from John Fuller came to visit the library on Community Kindness Day with some beautiful artwork for the library and lots of love for Clarence. We will pay back their kindness on Community Reads Day, March 4th when a library volunteer will visit the school and share a story about unicorns.

February 11th-April 27th we will be exhibiting art work from Fabiana Walsh. There will be a public reception with Fabiana on Tuesday, March 26th at 6pm with refreshments catered by the culinary students at Kennett High School. A portion of all art sales benefit the library; your purchase benefits local artists and our programs and collections-win/win.

We saw a lot of visitors during vacation week. All the vacation festivities were just too much for this patron!

A reminder, if you are wondering what's coming to shelves next, you can now see what's on order by visiting the website and looking for "COMING soon to shelves" on the left side of the homepage. Still not seeing that book you're hoping for? Don't forget our Adopt an Author program. If you'd like to support the growth of a collection, rather than a specific author, let's talk

If you are looking to make new or strengthen existing connections within the library and your community, join one of book groups or stop in for some crafting or cooking. For more information, stop by the circulation desk or call 603-356-2961.

We do not receive government funding and are reliant on the generosity of our patrons, community businesses, fundraisers and grants to cover operational expenses each year. Your support is vital to the library's continued growth and success as an essential community service.
