Before and After

Creating an Award-Winning “Window on Nature”

Our mission with this outdoor space was to create the ultimate “window on nature.” The homeowners, avid bird watchers, sought a seamless indoor/outdoor experience.

After removing the deteriorated builder’s grade decking, the space was revitalized by heartfelt woodworking and craftsmanship. A bright and inviting outdoor retreat was achieved by combining Wolf Silver Teak composite decking with Blue Steel powder-coated, stainless-steel railings. Uninterrupted views were ensured by using streamlined horizontal cable rail and by replacing two windows with an oversized 12’ sliding glass door.

This project was a dual award winner, including a Grand Prize, in the 2023 Professional Remodeling Organization (PRO) Metro DC PRO Remodeler of the Year Awards competition. In all, House to Home Solutions won five awards for both exterior and interior projects. Full details coming in April!

Pet Pals

Last month we did a test run on a new Pets segment of our newsletter, featuring the adorable Tinsel (you can see the sweet pup here). Due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback, we have decided to make this an official segment of the monthly newsletter. Each month we will feature a pet from the H2HS family (employees, clients, construction partners, etc.).

This is where you come in! Very soon, we will be rolling out a contest that will encourage our readers to submit your pets (any creatures large or small are welcome) prominently featured in your recently completed H2HS project setting. More to come on that soon!

Meet Illie

This month, we’d like you to meet Illie. She is a 10-year-old Galgo (Spanish greyhound). Our clients rescued her in 2017. Prior to that, she lived in Spain where she was used for hunting and breeding and wasn’t treated very kindly. She is a goofy, needy, sweet, and gentle pup. Our clients also have two other rescue Galgos—both are more camera-shy than Illie. The floor in this new kitchen was specifically chosen for the dogs because of its easy maintenance and slip resistance.
