Common warning signs and symptoms of Problem Gambling

 

Gambling is causing financial issues:

  • Money missing from bank accounts, wallet/purse or money jar 
  • Household items and valuables missing 
  • Regularly short of money even though they earn a wage 
  • Borrowing money on a regular basis 
  • Having many loans at the one time 
  • Being secretive about financial records or payslips 
  • Unpaid bills/disconnection notices 
  • Lack of food in the house


Gambling is causing mood or behavioral changes:

  • Deflection, rationalizing, minimizing 
  • Dishonesty 
  • Performance at work is being affected 
  • Seeming worried, agitated or upset for no apparent reason 
  • Reporting feeling hopeless, depressed, frustrated or suicidal 
  • Changes in personality - sleeping, eating, or sexual relationship patterns
  • Controlling and/or manipulative behavior 
  • Using threats, lies or charm to manipulate others. 
  • Defensiveness about gambling 

 

Other warning signs:

  • Withdrawal when not gambling 
  • Becoming overly invested in a game 
  • A family history of addiction 
  • Other addictions 
  • Proximity to a casino

Take Down Tobacco Day

On April 1, you can join thousands of youth advocates across the country to stand up and speak out against the tobacco industry. Whether you want to plan an event, make your voice heard on social media, or take action to support proposed policy solutions in your community, there’s lots of ways you can participate. However you decide to get involved, we encourage people of all ages to stand with kids over Big Tobacco to continue pushing toward a healthier, more equitable future.


Youth Coalition

This month the Greenwich Together Youth Coalition worked on putting together bags to give to Liberation Programs for clients upon discharge of treatment. The bags were filled essential items such as toiletries, blankets, notebooks, water bottles, USB drives etc... The youth got creative with personalized cards for each bag.
