MMAMTA Monthly News & Updates
Dear MMAMTA members,

It has been a cold winter - and unfortunately, it sounds like we will be getting another 3-5 inches of snow Saturday late evening!

A couple of reminders:
  1. Musicathon in Columbia needs participants! Anyone can participate, and why not teachers - yourselves? Bring along some fun duet music and read at Jerry's. Click on the "Musicathon Sign-Up Sheet" button down below, or click on: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Q_gRWvVf-gzTeNoH1XDjTHfQglFnHAALdCRNMCeNU9U/edit
  2. If you have students interested in attending ANY summer music camp, they may audition for a MMAMTA scholarship. The deadline is March 18; VERY soon for this April audition; please check the details.

In this newsletter are information about:
  • Musicathon (Columbia)
  • MMAMTA Scholarship auditions
  • Plowman Competition & Festival

Here's hoping for a warmer March,

2019 MMAMTA Musicathon
Get involved in our annual Spring Fundraiser! Many of us benefit from performing in public a week before the Federated Jr Festival auditions. The funds raised benefit MMAMTA programs like scholarship auditions, fall workshop, master classes, and concerto competition, but also community humanitarian non-profits. This year, Columbia's fundraiser will benefit Volunteer Action Center, and Jefferson City fundraiser the Samaritan Center.

MMAMTA Summer Camp Scholarship Auditions
Summer Music Camps can transform a student's life, but it can also be quite cost prohibitive. It is MMAMTA's mission to assist and encourage dedicated students who are interested in pursuing musical studies a little further.

The 9th Plowman Chamber Music Competition & Festival
Make the best out of the Plowman Chamber Music Competition & Festival! This biennial national event invites international guest artists to judge the nationally selected ensembles, and this year, we have violinist Ida Kavafian and pianist Wei-Yi Yang giving master classes at MU on Friday, March 22 at 12-2pm and 2-4pm respectively. Selected pre-collegiate students will be expected to attend the full 2-hour class.

MMAMTA Spring Luncheon!
Come hungry! Our next meeting on May 23, Thursday at 11am will take place in Columbia's "Your Pie," located at 1413 Grindstone Plaza Dr, 65201. This meeting is typically the more festive one; usually as many as 25 teachers will gather to catch up and celebrate the end of the academic year, and discuss events of the following year. Hope you can join us.
