Abilities, Skills, Processes, Instincts, and Resources Equitably Strengthened (ASPIRES) Project

Heart of Missouri United Way is excited to announce the ASPIRES Project, a capacity-building partnership with the City of Columbia. This project continues a meaningful partnership between United Way and the City and allows us to significantly expand the capacity of our community's nonprofit organizations.

The ASPIRES Project will bring much-needed resources to our community and the nonprofit organizations serving those who are most vulnerable. This will be done by using an evidence-based organizational assessment tool to identify organizational challenges and opportunities, identify and prioritize capacity needs, and develop an action plan.

March is National Nutrition Month

Aging Best is a nonprofit participant in the Heart of Missouri United Way Give 5 program. The Give 5ers get the opportunity to visit Aging Best in Columbia and learn about the great work they are doing in health and nutrition.

Aging Best has partnerships with local nutrition programs throughout central Missouri. Adults who are physically unable to attend their local center can receive home-delivered nutritious meals. All meals are packed in re-heatable, disposable containers and meet one-third of the daily nutrition requirements of the recipient. Aging Best delivers meals to individuals in over 100 central Missouri communities.

Aging Best: Meal Delivery Driver

Aging Best is seeking friendly and energetic volunteers to deliver meals one day each week to homebound senior citizens. This is a long-term volunteer position that would be delivering the same route each week.

Volunteer with Aging Best

We just wrapped up CoMo Give 5 Cohort 6 and are currently recruiting for Cohort 7! Since we launched this program in August 2022, we have had nearly 100 amazing retirees come through this program and pledge to "Give 5" hours a month (totaling 60+ hours a year!) back to a local nonprofit of their choice. We have seen firsthand how this program changes lives and impacts our community. If you are retired and living in Boone County, we encourage you to check out Give 5 today!
