Did you know that there's a new way to support the Colorado Headwaters Land Trust? |
Consider donating your tax refund (all or a part) to support CHLT's work to protect the land we love in Grand County.
Taxpayers should look for the option to "Donate to a Colorado Nonprofit" on their refund or tax software. Then, insert the following:
A) Nonprofit's name: Colorado Headwaters Land Trust
B) Nonprofit's Secretary of State CCSA Registration Number (not the EIN). For CHLT, this number is: 20023003772
(Both name and number are required to efficiently and accurately make sure that the nonprofit the taxpayer intended gets the donation.)
C) Amount of donation
Please know that when making a donation through Donate to a Colorado Nonprofit Fund the taxpayer can:
- Only designate ONE write-in nonprofit
- Give all or a part of their refund

The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs. CHLT values its accreditation status and believes strongly in the importance of accreditation to complete our work. We know that you believe in us too. That is why we are asking for your help.
The Commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how Colorado Headwaters Land Trust complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. For the full list of standards click here.

Carolyn Hackman Education Fund Scholarship |
Are you a Grand County student interested in: land conservation, land management, forestry, agriculture, soil science, hydrology, ecology, wildlife biology, environmental engineering, environmental law, landscape architecture, or another related field?
If so, apply for the Carolyn Hackman Scholarship at Colorado Headwaters Land Trust!
Carolyn Hackman wished to provide financial assistance to Grand County students who are looking to increase their knowledge of land conservation and management, and who wish to carry such knowledge and appreciation into their adult years.
We provide two $1,000 scholarships to graduating Grand County seniors, from either MPHS or WGHS, to help with their pursuit of their environmental passions. Please use your school's standard application packet (and deadlines) to apply, but also include a one-page essay detailing your interest in environmental science, land management, or a related field, and how you might apply that major or field of study to future work!
