Kiwanis Club of Frankfort

Kiwanis Games

Saturday, March 23rd | 9 am - 12:30 pm | Lincolnway Special Recreation Center

Kiwanis Club of Frankfort will be hosting the Kiwanis Games, focused on events for the intellectually challenged, ages 18-55. The event will be held on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024 from 9-12:30 PM at the Lincolnway Special Recreation Center.

Super Dog Egg Hunt

Saturday, March 23rd | 1:30 PM | Bark Park at Commissioners Park, 80th Ave. & Sauk Trail, northwest corner of Commissioners Park

FREE

Egg hunting has gone to the dogs! Dash around the Bark Park at Commissioners Park with your dog collecting treat-filled eggs and help your dog sniff out the special egg to win a prize. After the hunt, visit our dog-friendly vendors and get your photo with Peter Cottontail. Families and all friendly dogs are welcome at this free, on-leash event. An adult should accompany dog owners under the age of 16.

The gate will open at 1:20 pm. Hunt will start at approximately 1:30 pm.

Annual Family Fun Fly

Tuesday, March 26th | 11 AM - 12 PM | Fort Frankfort at Commissioners Park

FREE

Grab your kites and join us as we celebrate “Flying for Kids Month”, a statewide kite fly to promote park districts, recreation agencies, and the Park District Youth License Plate. Bring your own kite or borrow one from the Park District to fly. This event is FREE and open to the public!

Bunny Home Visit

Friday, March 29th | 10 AM - 12 PM or 1 - 2 PM

All Ages

$30 (Fee includes outdoor home visit with the Bunny and gift for one child)

$7 for each additional child in household (Online Code: BUNNY2024)

Watch your child’s eyes light up as they receive a personal visit from the Bunny at your house. The Bunny will hop on over for an outdoor photo and will bring your child a special treat. You will receive a phone call a day before the visit with an approximate arrival time. Be sure to have your camera ready for the bunny’s arrival. Bunny will spend approximately 10 minutes or less at each location. Open to Frankfort Park District residents only.

A Taste for Poison

Does your evening cocktail taste a little different? Has a neighbor started growing some unusual plants? Then this is the talk for you. Dr. Neil Bradbury explores the effects of poisons on the human body, and examines the motives of killers in plotting murder. Expect lethal umbrellas, deadly cocktails, and killer curries. A Taste for Poison is a unique combination of science, true crime, and murder mystery. You will learn the symptoms to expect if you are poisoned, and, if you have time, what to tell the paramedics you have been given.

Latin Hip Hop as a New Poetry

Illinois Road Scholar Speaker and Chicago-based music journalist Catalina Maria Johnson, Ph.D. will join us for an afternoon presentation which centers Latin hip hop artists and discusses how they are advancing the poetic traditions of their countries in unique ways. Using video and lyric examples, Ms. Johnson’s presentation is lively, light, and fun, focusing on participation, discussion, and musical enjoyment! Illinois Humanities is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the Illinois General Assembly [through the Illinois Arts Council], as well as by contributions from individuals, foundations, and corporations.

Spring Work Day

Clean-up activities include setting the shelters up for summer camp, clearing leaves and sticks from around the buildings and cabins, weeding the landscaped beds and pond, and getting the sport fields and Adventure Zone ready for the summer. Those interested can register through our website, manitoqua.org by clicking on “Spring Work Day” from the home page.

Earth Day/Arbor Day Celebration

The Village of Frankfort encourages residents to clean up our community between 8:00 AM - 11:30 AM. Gloves, garbage bags, and a free t-shirt will be provided to all participants. T-shirts and supplies can be picked up from the Village of Frankfort, 432 W. Nebraska Street, on Saturday, April 20 between 8:00 - 9:00 AM.
