1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Newton County Public Library has partnered with 1000 Books Foundation to offer 1000 Books before Kindergarten (1000BooksB4K) for children in our communities. The objectives of 1000 Books Foundation are simple – promote reading to newborns, infants and toddlers, and encourage parent and child bonding through reading.

Lake Village, Morocco and Roselawn Libraries have information sheets, log sheets & bookmarks for parents interested in the program.

Visit or call Lake Village, Morocco or Roselawn Libraries to pick up materials to begin this engaging, valuable program, or register online and track the books read through Beanstack.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a 60-volume set of books beginning with the children’s classic The Little Engine That Could. Each month a new, carefully selected book will be mailed in your child’s name directly to your home. Best of all it is a FREE GIFT! There is no cost or obligation to your family.

Who Is Eligible?

Preschool children ages birth to five who are residents of Newton County.

Board of Trustees meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of each month. The regular Board meeting for March will be held on March 18, 2024 at 5:30 PM at Morocco Community Library.

Wilderness Explorers

Playdate at the Library

Come have a playdate at the Library and meet new friends! Caregivers and children are welcome to come to the Library and meet new people, play with toys, read a book and have fun! Open to all ages

Bingo!

Adults of all ages are welcome to join us for a fun time of Bingo and socializing! Participants are welcome to bring snacks and non-alcoholic beverages.

Builders Club

March 5 | 3:30 PM

Come enjoy some Lego fun! Students in grades K through 6 will be given different Lego challenges to build and complete! Creations will be put on display at the Library.

Pixel Party

Join us at the library for a Pixel Party! There will be block based crafts, trivia, puzzles and more! Kids are encouraged to dress as their favorite mob or player character. Grades K-6

Itty Bitty Animals

Waddle on over and join us at the Library to learn animal songs, baby bounces and finger plays. Babies ages 0-23 months and their caregivers are invited to an animal adventure. We will stomp, moo, and cluck out some fun.

Animal Toddler Time

Toddlers ages 2-3 years old and their caregivers will join us as we roar along with songs, stomp our feet to dances, and read awesome animal stories!

AnimalStorytime

Trot on over to the Library for an amazing animal storytime! Children ages 4-5 years old and their caregivers are invited to learn about different types of animals by hopping to the beat, whistling to the tune, and following along to our animal stories!

Will it Float??

It’s sink or swim here at the library! Children will be given materials to create a flotation device and compete to see who can float the most weight! Winner takes home a prize. Grades 3-6

Tween Record Breaking

Jennie Conrad and Conrad Station

Join us for an engaging discussion on the once thriving and popular Conrad Station located just south of Lake Village, IN. Conrad Station’s present state is a ghost town, where remnants of the old farm houses, Station, Brick Factory, Post Office and more are all that’s left to tell the stories of this once great town built up by Jennie Conrad. Learn about Jennie Conrad’s struggles and triumphs as she persevered to build up this once thriving town.
