This weather has brought us warm afternoons, spring flowers and an opportunity to fling open the windows and let some fresh air in! One of my favorite things about working here is seeing all the new fabrics that arrive and feeling my heart go a flutter with excitement! While I love my fluttering with excitement heart, you might be aware that Barbara has been experiencing a different type of fluttering heart. The kind brought on by episodes of A-Fib. Her medical team recommended she undergo an Atrial fibrillation ablation and I’d like to share the news that she had the procedure on Friday. More than happy to be in her own home by Friday night and taking the next few days/week off to give her body a chance to properly heal and respond. To those that knew she was having the procedure and sent prayers and positive thoughts her way, she thanks you! While she takes this time off, the newsletter still needs to be written and we need to let you all know of the exciting things March is bringing our way! So please, read on… |  | |
With Spring in mind, and our spring training visitors from Kansas on my mind, we have just received a wonderful collection of fabric from Timeless Treasures featuring sunflowers. The featured panel is called “Advice from a Sunflower”. And while I’ve not personally received any advice from a sunflower, this one has some smart things to say and a flower bed full of coordinates to put you in a summer frame of mind! And, if summer is on your mind you’ll love the new Chillin’ and Grillin’ fabrics as well. You’ll find lots of opportunity to meet new friends and learn new techniques when you sign up for any of our classroom activities! Saturday, March 9th the Phoenix Chapter of the American Sewing Guild meets in our shop at noon. New members or those interested in joining are always welcome! Andi’s March 10th FMQ on a Longarm Class will learn how to set up your machine to work with rulers. Explore a variety of block designs and borders that use straight rulers and curved templates. Remember, we like to “Sketch, then Stitch” so bring a notebook! On the 11th the classroom will be filled with chatter and activity during Open Sew, and on the 12th you’ll find the same excitement during Embroidery: Open Sew. Not to be missed on the 19th and 20th is a repeat of our Freestanding Houseplants class. This is one way to bring greenery to your home without having to water your plants. My daughter swears this will make any millennial happy and bring joy to both friends and family. SPECIAL UPDATE, there will be no SEW SMART in MARCH. | |
We are offering a very special opportunity for students to join Ramona for Mastery Class - V9 Bernina 2-Day Camp for Beginners. Bernina V9 Embroidery software is a powerful tool! There are so many features that make machine embroidery so much FUN! If you have V9 Creator or V9 Designer Plus, you are welcome to this class. If you have purchased your software from Sun Valley Quilts, this is the intro-training for your software. The software is very intuitive and learning it does take practice, but this introductory class will help get you on your way. I can hardly wait for April to arrive, as I’m always learning when we being National Educator Joyce Blowers back to our shop! We have three days of workshops for QCT, Quiltmagine or QuiltPath software owners. If you or someone you know owns a Q’nique, Nolting, APQS, Juki or Brother longarm and has the software or is considering purchasing the software these workshops are invaluable! Day One ~ April 22 is full of Tips and Techniques for Getting Started This introductory class is a game changer in jump starting your automation journey. Leave class confident in using your automation system. Day Two ~ April 23 From Just Quilted to WOW! The program is packed with features that can easily turn so-so quilts into unique, customized and WOW quilts. What is your vision for your quilt? What “look” do you want? Opening with a discussion on quilt styles and customization, you will learn easy to use functions and techniques to upscale and customize blocks and pantos. Some Gold features (included in Quilt Path) that offer even more precision and customization will be introduced. Day 3 ~ April 24 Finishing Touches like the icing on a cake, the finishing details add to the customized look of the quilt. The software has wonderful features to easily quilt borders, add finishing customization touches, and stitch with precision.
