CADCA AWARD!
The Alliance of Coalitions for Healthy Communities received the
Coalition of Excellence Award
for Long-term Outcomes
from CADCA (Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America), the nation’s leading substance abuse prevention organization, on Feb. 7 during CADCA’s 2019 National Leadership Forum at the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.

The Coalition of Excellence award is part of CADCA’s GOT OUTCOMES! award program, which gives national recognition to exemplary coalitions that have clearly documented their impact on population-level substance abuse outcomes.

Oakland County FAN MARCH SUPPORT GROUPS
To increase prevention, recovery and support connections, a partnership was formed with Families Against Narcotics that encourages strong ties to all community sectors including parents affected by addiction, concerned citizens, law enforcement, judges, leaders in education, business, and healthcare and the recovery community.

With 5-10 meetings held every month in Oakland County, the Alliance serves as the Oakland County Chapter of Families Against Narcotics (FAN).

INTEGRATIVE WELLNESS
Pioneering social change in the realm of health and wellness, the Alliance strives to reduce the fear of complimentary therapies and empower individuals and families to take care of their health in holistic and sustainable ways. This “Culture of Health” provides support services for the integration of health and wellness into community outreach practices by providing knowledge and skills.

New staff member: Corey James, LLMSW Prevention Program Manager 

Corey joins the Alliance with extensive experience in prevention program development and implementation. Additionally, he is the Designated Youth Use Tobacco Representative for the Alliance. He specializes in appropriate youth focused interventions to empower them to make healthy choices. He is a University of Michigan Master of Social Work graduate and can be reached directly at  cjames@achcmi.org .
