Hello from the 4-H Office,
Updates regarding afterschool programming. We are happy to report we have partnered with four schools located in Windsor and Santa Rosa areas. On an average we have 12 to 14 youth per school site with great support from teen & adult volunteers. Our office is implementing the YES program at all our school sites, which is Youth Experiences in Science. This curriculum targets youth from grades 1st to 3rd as they embark on scientific discovery, through hands-on learning. If you have interest in learning more about the YES Program or want to learn how to implement it in your community clubs please contact our office. We are excited to continue providing afterschool programming, and hopeful to expand to more school sites next year.

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME WILL BE BACK MARCH 10!
I am so excited! Not only does it give us all more time for chores, it's the gateway to Spring and more fairs and so many things!
What things, you ask? (I know you were asking!) Things like the Poultry Showdown, Chicken Que (Ha! "Chicken de Mayo"!), Fashion Revue, Regional Presentation Day, Scholarship applications, Blanket tying (yes, a little plug there), Sonoma-Marin Fair, Sonoma County Fair, All Star applications and interviews, Science Discovery Day, 4-H Camp, Teen Events (I hear the next one is gonna be even more awesome than the last!), CCC Executive Board elections...the list goes on and on! Obviously I didn't list them all. So put on your racing shoes or boots and let's get our kiddos out into all the amazing events 4-H has to offer.
I know we don't actually do the nominations for CCC Executive roles until April, and I suspect you may be tired of hearing about it already, but I really hope that some of you who haven't had a chance to serve in this capacity will come be part of the Board. Stick your toe in!
I want to congratulate our 4-H members who exhibited at the Cloverdale Citrus Fair, braving the wind and rain (as is tradition!). I hope you all had a great time and learned something in the process, too!
Thank you also to Ellen Johnson for all of your hard work setting up the Proficiency Review and Revision meeting on February 25, it was well-organized and there were so many thoughtful treats and beverages to make the morning more enjoyable. I am disappointed that more people weren't able to come and help, but we did send out some emails with specific requests and are looking forward to those updates and suggestions by March 15. It really does take many hands and brains to keep this program awesome for our youth.
In closing this month, I want to say thank you to all of our 4-H Clubs who graciously welcomed me to their Club Meetings. I had a wonderful time seeing all the different incantations of a club meeting, each club with it's own spin on it, and my favorite part was hearing from the kids what they love about 4-H, why they joined, and seeing their passion for their projects, friends and club.
Thank you all so much, I can't say enough how much I appreciate all of our volunteers!
You truly make the best better.

🌟 All Star Ambassador Highlight 🌟 | |
Hello everyone the All Stars are back for yet another amazing newsletter, we hope that everything has been going great for everyone over the past month. As you know we like to start things off with a good joke.
Two windmills are standing around in a farm field. One of the windmills asks “hey, what is your favorite type of music” and the other replies “ I am a big heavy metal fan”.
Now that was one great joke, but to get into our 4-H news. The All Stars are having a community service event of a movie & pasta night, we will be tying blankets on March 3rd from 5-8pm at the YAL Center. The blankets that are made will be donated to the Living Room. Email us to attend!!!
We are still receiving stuffed animals for the Valley of The Moon, please make sure that you either deliver them to 4907 Gravenstien Hwy N., Sebastopol, CA, or have your club leaders drop them off at the monthly CCC meeting. Unfortunately the All Starts only have 3 months left in our term, and would greatly encourage everyone interested in applying to become an All Star. Even if the application may seem difficult it’s worth the effort. If you have any questions regarding news or what it’s like being an All Star Ambassador let us know at: sc4hallstars@gmail.com
That is all for this months newsletter, we can’t wait to see you at our upcoming event!!Angel & Wilder, the 2023-2024 Sonoma County 4-H All-Star County Ambassadors

JOANN Campaign, March 3 to May 4
We are thrilled to announce that JOANN has renewed our partnership agreement for another three years! Over the past three years, we have seen a dramatic increase in the campaign results and in the funds going to your local programs, from a total of $116,000 raised in 2021 to a record-breaking $1.28 million raised in 2023.
Mark your calendars and start putting together your project supply lists to pick up at a JOANN store near you!
During the two-month promotional timeframe, customers can donate or round-up at checkout in JOANN stores to support 4-H.
The JOANN campaign relies on consumer donations, so the more you can help drive people to JOANN stores, the more California 4-H will earn! Funds raised through JOANN supports the State Fashion Revue contest at State Field Day. A social media toolkit will be shared on the Resource Center soon.
All JOANN stores will also receive a Team Member box with information about 4-H and our partnership along with materials to encourage store engagement.
