Club Reopening Saturday April 1st!

Winter Training Resuming

We are excited to announce that the Club is reopening on April 1st! Those with a Winter Training Membership or 2023 Season Membership will be able to return to the Gym for Winter Training, even if you had your membership refunded. The on-water start date is to be confirmed after the Club opening. 


Pre-Season Jr. and Sr. Competitive Meeting: April 5th 2023

The Pre-Season meeting for Junior and Senior Competitive rowers, coaches, and parents is taking place Wednesday, April 5th at 7:00pm at the Boathouse. Be sure to attend for all the necessary info before the season begins!


The Pre-Season meeting is also where the next Athlete Representative will be voted for. Keep reading for more info.


Club Spring Clean Up & Opening Work Day

The rowing season is upon us! The Docks will be installed on April 15th in preparation for the Club opening on April 16th for on-water training!


The Boathouse will be opening for the Spring Season on April 16th for those with a 2023 ORC program Registration, and RCA Membership, so don't forget to register!

Adult Rowing League

Are you a new rower looking to increase your skills? Adult Rowing League is a great way to practice alongside like-minded people! Teams meet weekly for on-water and on-land training in preparation for the final race weeks.  For more info, click here.

Is your child looking to start rowing? Discover Rowing Day Camp is the perfect place to learn the basics of rowing in addition to fun indoor and outdoor activities. For more info, click here.

Adult Learn to Row

Never rowed before? Learn the basics of rowing with a class of approximately 10 people in Adult Learn to Row. Learn parts of the stroke, parts of the boat, as well as water safety. Lessons take place on rowing machines, and on water. For more info, click here.

Lead Fundraiser

We are seeking a person to proactively engage with everyday people, tell them about important issues facing the ORC and inspire them to become financial supporters. The Lead Fundraiser will also be responsible for coordinating Grant applications and will be held as a Director at Large on the ORC Board of Directors. This is a volunteer, and Board position.

ORC Assistant Coach

The ORC provides coaching to rowers in competitive or recreational programs, as  well as introductions to the sport through Learn-to-Row, summer camps, Everybody Rows Ottawa, and the Adult Rowing League. Local high schools and universities  train and race out of the ORC.  


The Assistant Coach will work alongside our team of dedicated volunteer coaches. In this role you will help realise our mission to bring a diverse offering of rowing programming to different stakeholders in the community. Working under the leadership of the head coach you will help to support ORC strategic objectives and make the ORC a powerhouse in Canadian rowing. For more info, click the button below.

Athlete Representative

With our current Athlete Representative, Meghan Jolley's term ending soon, we are looking for a new candidate to fill the role. The Athlete Representative is the voice for all athletes at the ORC, and ensure that the needs and perspectives of athletes are heard, and voiced. The Athlete Representative interacts with all programs across the Ottawa Rowing Club and promotes a safe and fun environment by providing athletes with appropriate resources for various issues and questions.


The athlete representative is chosen by the athletes at the Pre Season Meeting, taking place Wednesday April 5th at the Boathouse at 7:00pm.

For those interested in camp or coaching positions at the ORC, you must successfully complete the the Learn to Row or RCA Weekend #1 Coaching Certification session in May. Once again, this is mandatory for Camp and Coaching Positions at the ORC.

Head of the Rideau Committee

Come and be part of the 2023 Head of the Rideau Organizing Committee. Although the season hasn't started, the organization of the Head of the Rideau can start now so that we can ensure this year's Head of the Rideau is a success. The more hands helping, makes less work for all those involved. A lot of the structure is already set in place. Junior Men's Coach Wanted!

With the departure of coach John Watkins, the Junior Men’s program will be looking for a new fearless leader over the winter and as they approach the spring 2023 season.


Master’s Assistant Coaches Wanted! 

With the departure of coach Krisandra Ivings and the growth in the Master’s program, they will be looking for extra support as they approach the spring 2023 season. Many positions are available, and possibility for mentorship is available for newer coaches. Practices are in the evenings and the position can be part-time.

First Aid Training for 2023

The ORC is hosting first aid training! The course will provide the CPR-C / AED certification with a cold water focus. Those who volunteer as a coach at the ORC will be reimbursed. Details on registration and dates to be confirmed soon.
