United Way of Clallam County brings people together to build a strong, equitable community where everyone can thrive. We do this by raising funds year-round to give back to our local nonprofit partners.

Our Live United Prom & Awards ceremony takes place annually and is an opportunity to enjoy the glitz and glam of prom as an adult while we celebrate the individuals and businesses that have gone above and beyond in the previous year with our LIVE UNITED Awards! Guests will enjoy a delicious dinner catered by 7 Cedars, a full bar with signature drinks, a live DJ that will keep everyone dancing all night, and of course, there will be plenty of photo opportunities so guests can capture memories that will last a lifetime. If you want to take your prom night to the next level, 7 Cedars has offered a special discounted room rate to all guests attending the event, so you can stay all night.

Each year, United Way of Clallam County raises funds and partners with local nonprofits to implement collaborative, innovative solutions to enhance the lives of ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) families living in Clallam County. Beyond the glamour and allure, your presence at Live United Prom goes a long way in supporting vital projects and programs that contribute to the well-being of our community. This event is not just an opportunity to enjoy an exquisite night out; it's a chance to make a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve.

Don’t miss Judy Carroll’s in-the-woods workshop on Sasquatch communication on Sunday!

Squatchcon is where the superfans find their tribe. Come out and help us celebrate what makes the Olympic Peninsula weird!

---

We also have a bit in our program that is more focused on our mission:

Squatchcon Comic & Arts Convention started in 2022 as a one-off themed art market at One of a Kind Art Gallery in the Port Angeles Wharf. The positive community response was so overwhelming that we had no choice but to plan Squatchcon 2: Squatch-On! In our second year, we moved to Vern Burton Community Center and adopted a more traditional convention model. Squatchcon is proud to be a convention that welcomes student vendors, first-time vendors, and emerging businesses.

As Squatchcon expanded, so did our vision for our role in Port Angeles. We saw an opportunity with our event: career inspiration and networking opportunities for teens and emerging artisans in Clallam County. With the support of local artists, individuals, and small businesses, Squatchcon offers free table space and

mentorship for Clallam County students.

This year, we’re welcoming our largest group of student artists: please stop by their booths and offer some encouragement! In addition to free table space, student vendors are supported in the weeks leading up to the convention with email pep talks and advice from experienced artists. As part of their vending opportunity, students are also connected with Dark Horse Comics Editor (and former Sequim High School student) Jenny Blenk for an exclusive hands-on pitch

development workshop.

We believe that there is a wealth of opportunity available to creative young people living in Clallam County - and that those opportunities are closer than they think. Thank you for being a part of the biggest, hairiest event on the Olympic Peninsula!

The Second Weekend Art Opening - Featuring the Art of John Hemmen

In many cultures, fish have long been a symbol for the origin of life. Since life originated in water, fish are associated with fertility and abundance, and wealth and prosperity. Fish are associated with the water element, which signifies stability, balance, and tranquility. In Feng Sui, fish in water bring good fortune, harmony, and luck. In Christianity, fish are a symbol of Jesus and baptism. In Northwest indigenous culture, salmon represent renewal and the cycle of life.

Says the artist: I paint fish with these symbols in mind but more so because they are beautiful in their own essence. How they flow and move in the water is magical. They are one with the water. How can I capture that? So I paint them in their element of water and as symbols out of water, and then whimsy comes forth and I paint them that way. The ways of painting fish are endless, just as the renewal of life is endless. My show demonstrates this.

Virtuoso guitarist and vocalist, Andre Feriante, whose Port Angeles shows are always highly anticipated, returns to Studio Bob with his eclectic trio Troupe de Ville! Rounding out the trio are Steve Thoreson, a powerhouse tenor vocalist, and Eric Fridrich, a Chicago bluesman. These three world class musicians present a diverse musical show that’s lighthearted with a twist of humor. There really is no other musical act to compare them to, so you’ll have to come see for yourself. You’ll be so glad you did.
