Communication Protocol

Whom do I contact with a question or suggestion? Lake Geneva Schools’ communication protocols help promote direct, open, and respectful interactions so that we quickly and efficiently resolve problems and concerns. The communication protocol starts with the staff member closest to the situation, as that person usually has the most information. However, at times, additional personnel are required to resolve specific concerns.

COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITIES

Dear Lake Geneva Schools’ Staff, Parents, Students, and Community:

As the Directors of Curriculum and Instruction, we are pleased to announce that Lake Geneva Schools will recognize outstanding teachers and staff members for their exceptional work and dedication to our students. Five individuals who have significantly impacted their students and colleagues will be honored at our annual staff banquet in May. The award categories are:

(1) Teacher of the Year - Lake Geneva Joint #1 School District

(2) Teacher of the Year - Lake Geneva - Genoa City Union (Badger) High School District

(3) Specials Services Teacher of the Year - Special Services Teachers are those who serve in a capacity other than that of a classroom teacher. Special services roles can include but are not limited to special education, interventionist, speech-language pathologist, school counselor, school psychologist, school nurse, school social worker, etc.

(4) Support Staff of the Year - Lake Geneva Joint #1 School District

(5) Support Staff of the Year - Lake Geneva - Genoa City Union (Badger) High School District

To nominate a person, please complete this online nomination form and explain why you believe they deserve recognition. Your statement should highlight specific examples of the person's outstanding work, including their impact on student learning and engagement, their contributions to the school community, and their commitment to ongoing professional development.

We would like to encourage you to nominate a deserving individual for this important recognition. Our schools are filled with talented educators who work tirelessly to support our students, and this award is a way for us to show our appreciation and gratitude. Nominations should be submitted by Friday, March 8th, 2024.

April 2024 Referendums

On the April 2 ballot, the Lake Geneva Joint #1 School District and the Lake Geneva-Genoa City Union (Badger) High School District will each ask the voters to approve exceeding the revenue limit by $3,000,000 beginning with the 2024-2025 school year for recurring purposes consisting of ongoing operational and maintenance expenses, infrastructure, technology and safety upgrades, and educational programming.

Why Referendum?

Our Districts face financial challenges that require the attention of our entire community. This is due to several factors:

  • Outdated Funding System
  • Inadequate State Funding
  • Growing Student Needs
  • Rising Operational Costs

What will Operational Referendums allow the districts to do?

  • Support for teaching and learning to increase student growth and achievement and offer competitive academic courses, programs, and services for all students.
  • Attract and retain the best educators by providing competitive salaries and benefits.
  • Address annual, ongoing maintenance on our aging buildings.
  • Cover rising inflationary costs on goods and services, including transportation, utilities, curriculum, supplies, and equipment.

What have the districts done to be fiscally responsible?

What is the estimated tax impact?

MAIN OFFICE PROCEDURE

Main Office Check-In Procedure:

In an effort to continue safety procedures and protocols, Star Center is asking that all visitors enter the building using the main entrance. Please note that if a visitor is wishing to enter the building, go to the classroom, etc. Ms. Aronson and Ms. Donahue will ask for a driver's license to be handed to them upon arrival. They will then exchange the driver's license for a visitor's pass to indicate to staff and students that the person wearing the visitor's pass is allowed in the school building. We appreciate your understanding of this procedure as we continue to do what we can to ensure the safety of all students and staff at Star Center.

WHEN TO KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME

School attendance is very important, and we encourage families to make sure their children are in school as much as possible. However, children who are sick need to stay home for their well-being and to prevent others from becoming sick.
