Green Interchange is a Nashville-based non-profit whose mission is to plant trees to create healthy communities and thriving economies across the state of Tennessee.

Each year to celebrate Earth Day, the organization hosts a Plant a Tree event that gives residents access to bare-root native trees for a small donation. Through this program, Green Interchange has distributed approximately 18,000 trees to about 3,000 Tennesseans spanning across the state. These trees are working to improve the air, water, and land while adding even more beauty to our state.

The team is gearing up for their third year of Plant a Tree, recruiting volunteers who generously commit their time, talent and passion to help us connect people with trees. To learn more about ordering trees or volunteering during the event, please visit our website

If your organization would like to acquire trees to give away to employees for Earth Day, please contact John McFadden at (615) 330-5364 or at john@greeninterchange.org.

Upcoming April 8, 2024 @1:00 P.M. CST

TDEC's Office of Sustainable Practices continue to host open discussions quarterly throughout the year. Over 15 TGSP members participated on our most recent call, with discussion ranging from difficult to manage materials and waste to potential solutions to problems at facilities. Members were able to share successes and vendor information to aid other members.

During this open discussion members will have the opportunity to talk to other industry members about pollution prevention strategies, recycling, resource reuse, vendors, and any other items relating to facility environment, health, sustainability, or operations. Members will receive a reoccurring quarterly calendar appointment.

Join us if you can and meet other TGSP members. You never know if a solution to an issue you are having is discussed.

Download the calendar appointment, if you have issues with the appointment please reach out to us at TGS.Partnership@tn.gov.

Longer days, warmer weather and the emerging spring wildflowers are sure signs that spring is here. Join us on Saturday, March 23rd to welcome the new season.

Our annual Spring Hike is a great opportunity to shed the winter blahs, make new friends, and explore Tennessee State Parks' natural side. Whether you are looking for a short nature trail or an adventurous, all-day endeavor through a park's most remote stretches, you'll find what you're looking for at a Tennessee State Park. All hikes will be guided by park staff who can speak to the natural, cultural, and historical treasures that Tennessee State Parks has to offer. From the cypress swamps of the Mississippi River in West Tennessee to the rugged ridge tops and waterfalls in the middle of the state to the majestic mountains in the East, every park showcases a unique piece of Tennessee’s outdoor beauty. Happy Spring, from Tennessee State Parks!

Please remember, schedules and events may change - contact the park or hike leader for more information or to confirm events. For a full list follow the link Spring Hikes — Tennessee State Parks
