We are thrilled to report that the IDDSI funnels have been made available to IDDSI sponsors in the last month. We are working on setting up an online ordering system so that it can be made available to everyone in the very near future.
Over the next months, there will be a few pilot programs to assess distribution channels so that the IDDSI funnel will be easily accessible. IDDSI is also working on a new flow test video featuring the IDDSI funnel. Thank you to everyone for your incredible patience and the overwhelming interest! Please stay tuned.

March reminder!
Have you finished your new artwork?
It’s March. The year is nearly a quarter finished. And we have less than 300 days until the adoption of labels with only IDDSI dysphagia diet terminology. 300 days until new labeling is going to be expected at your customers’ facilities! Although your customers don’t realize it, now is a good time to be finished with your artwork. Long lead time items might even have / should have been ordered already.
The year is going by quickly, let’s all meet our agreed timeline. Let’s all support our customers as they support their patients with the adoption of the only supported evidence based standardized terminology for dysphagia diets.
And even if you are not a supplier, you can ask your suppliers, “have you finished your artwork?” It’s a fair question. There are many steps between finished artwork and your delivery in January 2023. And many of these steps take more than a few weeks.

Webinars & IDDSI Learning
|
|
|
A few days ago, we were joined by Dr. Heather Keller on the webinar, “Modified Texture Use in Long Term Care: Issues and Implications”. Modified textures are commonly used in long term care to address dysphagia and other eating challenges. Although intended to improve food and fluid intake and thus nutritional status, there are several issues that can arise when prescribing these texture modifications that can have both positive and negative outcomes for residents. Based on analyses of the Making the Most of Mealtimes prevalence study this presentation will provide an in-depth view of some of these issues and discuss implications for prescribing and designing modified texture foods and fluids in this setting.
