This amazing main level remodel project was a referral from our friend Sarah Polovitz with the Polovitz Group. After purchasing the home, it was in need of a main level remodel to function better for this busy family. We partnered with A Sadowski Designs to create this amazing transformation! Working within the existing footprint of the home, we creatively met all the goals our of clients. This stunning home is now complete with new mudroom, large dining room, kitchen adjoined with a warm living room and a sweet powder bath! It's a beautiful and functional home for a wonderful family!
Hidden coffee/ wine bar, perfectly designed to fit in this small space! Just enough room to make your drink of choice!
Peter Jacobson | The Go - Giver
Recently my son Patrick gifted our office staff with a book. The Go-Giver .“A Little Story about a Powerful Business Idea”. It’s a quick read that includes a Discussion Guide on the Five Laws of Stratospheric Success. The Laws of Value, Compensation, Influence, Authenticity and Receptivity. The read is in parable form such as Joseph Girzone’s, Joshua. It’s been a while since I immersed myself in study and various methods of understanding about the fundamentals of business success, motivation, and personal growth. This book got me thinking again about business and life. I would recommend it to those adults, and children of adults, who can set sail on a course of understanding more about authenticity and being open to receiving as well as giving. Our staff will be using the Go-Giver as a lesson guide to share the message and build on its principles.
Our Go - Getters
Our company has always been blessed with being able to employee a staff of Go-Getters. On staff carpenters that have shared their lives with Lake Country helping make our clients environment and lives better. Their loyalty, personal ethics and talents have been an integral part of who we are and how we do things.
I remember the day I first met Wally Lukas, one of our lead carpenters. Wally just celebrated his 25th anniversary with our company. He’s the same jovial soul that always bring smiles to the people he works for - and with. If you show up on time with Wally, your late. He hits the ground running.
Having an “on staff” labor force in today’s market is unique. Much of this work is being sub -contracted out by others because of industry realities. However, carpentry talent continues to find it way to our doors, most recently from Ireland!

Be a Go-Giver…. and Go Get em!

Liking Lichen
Written by: Derek Wilkinson

It’s Fungi, it’s an Algae, it’s both but more
importantly it isn’t Mold!

I was recently challenged with a unique concern proposed by one of our past clients. They had called in to ask about a rather odd looking material that was now appearing on the stone work that surrounds the in home fireplace and mantle. The primary reason for their concern is that by its appearance, it seemed likely it could be mold. As I am sure is true with most homeowners, that is the last thing you want to imagine that is populating in your home.
Lets take a closer look
The homeowners were able to send me a picture of this new tenant in their house and I started reaching out to all the teams involved with putting this fireplace into this remodel project. It didn’t take long for me to learn that the growth on the stone work is not mold at all but rather that it is creatively complex dual organism called “lichen”.
After speaking with our brick and stone craftsman that did this work, I learned that this type of growth is rather common. Although it is more common to grow on rock or stone on the exterior of a home it is also possible for it to grow on the interior of the home as well. He mentioned that this is based on what type of rock was used, how or where it came from and what minerals it may contain.
What is a Lichen?
A lichen, or lichenized fungus, is actually two organisms functioning as a single, stable unit. Lichens comprise a fungus living in a symbiotic relationship with an alga or cyanobacterium (or both in some instances). There are about 17,000 species of lichen worldwide.

Celebrating LCB Women this Month!
Photographic Pets Flashcards English Classroom Display.jpg
L-R Renee Aldecocea, Sue Jacobson, Leah Thompson, Sarah Swenson, and Samantha Smeester
We celebrated our LCB women during Women in Construction Week March 6th-12th! It was a great way to highlight our hardworking and passionate women.

The history of WIC week is linked with that of the National Association of Women in Construction. It was first called Women in Construction of Fort Worth, founded in 1953 by 16 women working in the construction industry. It was created in order to support the few women working in construction at the time.
It later became the National Association of Women in Construction. The association has since gone on to ease the passage of women into construction, helping to create awareness and better working space for those who desire to work in the industry. It has about 115 chapters across the country.
The National Association of Women in Construction “offers its members education, support and networking to help advance their careers in construction, build their technical skills, and become leaders.” Every woman in construction is welcome to join the association.
In 1960, Women in Construction Week was introduced in honor of the association. Through the celebration of women in construction, and the numerous efforts of the association, many more women have taken the bold step to venture into the industry, which is predominantly filled with men.
The stigma around women working in construction has reduced drastically. In addition, the pay gap between men and women is relatively small compared to other industries. These, along with several other feats, are the many achievements of the National Association of Women in Construction.
