Darion McCloud, Storyteller
Award-winning storyteller and teaching artist Darion McCloud will present the keynote address at the Annual Meeting of the Friends of South Carolina Libraries. Addressing the subject of Building Strong Communities through Libraries, McCLoud's keynote is free and open to the public, sponsored by the Pat Conroy Literary Center.

FOSCL Grant Applications due May 31, 2019
The Friends of South Carolina Libraries (FOSCL) offers grants in amounts up to $250 for support of library Friends organizations in SC. The grants are intended to assist friends groups with an emphasis on the following purposes:
 
Expenses related to the formation/incorporation of a group
Expenses related to obtaining 501(c) 3 tax-exempt status for a group
Expenses related to the revitalization of a “dormant” group
Expenses related to the initiation of new or innovative programs/technology designed to foster local library support which are principally sponsored by a library friends group
 
Friends Groups submitting applications must be a current member of FOSCL. 

Updates on FOSCL Grant Recipients
The Lamar Library Friends in Darlington County used FOSCL grant funds to purchase supplies and refreshments for their Murder Mystery fundraiser. Twenty-five community members participated as actors and over $1,000 in profit was raised for library programming.
