Well, another Canadian International Auto Show is in the record books and, as always, the TADA has done an exceptional job of putting on an exciting, informative, and thoroughly entertaining exhibition. Again this year, attendance was vast, the audience enthusiastic, and the vehicles on display appealed to all tastes, budgets, and requirements. Regardless of if your dream machine was a sports car, an exotic, a restored golden oldie, or some specific work vehicles for your business, there was something to entice and interest everyone.

On display were unfiltered symbols of wealth that defined the expression, "If you got it, flaunt it!" These vehicles were also there for us dreamers to drool over and perhaps aspire to. However, for the more realistic of us, the show thankfully featured a wide variety of everyday practical vehicles that were more suited to our pocketbooks.

The Canadian market for vehicles has been dynamic this past year. The chart below gives a good indication of comparative model sales, showing where the largest gains and biggest dips have been for the year.

It's safe to say, that as we can almost sniff the sweet, warm spring air and bask in the sunshine just around the corner, our thoughts, after experiencing the many tantalizing displays at the auto show, are now turning towards experiencing that new car smell in our own new vehicle.

And fulfilling that experience is a lot easier than you might expect! Simply go to our website or call us and tell us what you might be interested in. Even if you are looking for a gently used car or work vehicle, we have many options to consider. Our fleet lease programs are tailored to your budget, and we can put you and your staff behind the wheels of as many new work vehicles as your business requires. Of course, if a new Ferrari is how you want to decorate your driveway this spring, we can handle that too!

Thanks so much,

2018 Best Retained Value Awards

Toyota once again came out on top at this year's Canadian Black Book Best Retained Value Awards.

The results, which were announced last month, measured 2014 model year vehicles across 20 vehicle categories. The 282 vehicles measured by Canadian Black Book lead to an all-time industry average retain value of 53 per cent.

Overall brand winners were: Toyota for both the car and truck/crossover/SUV categories, and Porsche for the luxury category. Toyota ended up winning eight vehicle categories and had 14 top three category mentions, while FCA had four category wins, Mercedes-Benz had three, and GM had two.

On a vehicle level, the Jeep Wrangler was one of the top performers, retaining 91 per cent of its original MSRP (marking its eighth straight win in its category). Other notable category winners were: the Chevrolet Corvette, retaining 88 per cent; the Toyota FJ Cruiser, retaining 86 per cent; and the Toyota Tacoma, retaining 81 per cent (and its ninth straight win).

Toronto Auto Show Hosts 40 Canadian Premieres

This year's Canadian International Auto Show featured 40 Canadian debuts.

One standout was the awesome Koenigsegg Agera RS, marking the first time it's been displayed in a large public exhibition in North America. The Agera headlined an impressive roster of reveals, which included three North American debuts and seven concepts shown in Canada for the first time, reflecting the vitality and importance of both the Canadian auto industry and show.

Here were some of the vehicles spotted at the show this year:

Audi A8

The fourth-gen Audi A8 is the first production automobile in the world to have been developed specifically for conditional automated driving at Level 3. The Audi AI traffic jam pilot takes charge of driving in slow-moving traffic at up to 60 km/h on highways and freeways where a physical barrier separates the two carriageways. The A8 is powered by a 3.0 TFSI engine that produces 340 hp.

2019 Chevrolet Silverado

Chevrolet commemorates a century of Chevy trucks with the all-new 2019 Silverado. The new truck offers claimed best-in-class cargo volume across every bed length, a high-strength steel bed floor, more and stronger tie-downs, and an available power tailgate that can be operated with the key fob. The 2019 Silverado will be available with six engines, including 5.3-litre and 6.2-litre V8s.

Ford Edge ST

The all-new Edge ST is Ford's first SUV to be tuned by the Ford Performance team and features the most powerful V6 engine available in its class. It's outfitted with specially tuned 2.7-litre twin-turbocharged EcoBoost engine pumping out 335 hp and a quick-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission.

Jaguar I-Pace

The I-Pace, Jaguar's first all electric, is several vehicles in one: five-seater sports car, a performance car, a family car, and a SUV. It will be a long-distance sprinter that accelerates to 97 km/h in around four seconds, with a range of more than 500 km from the 90 kWh lithium-ion battery. Charging is quick and easy, with an 80 per cent charge achieved in just 90 minutes.

Volvo XC40 R Design

The Volvo XC40 sets a new benchmark for safety, design, and connectivity in the compact SUV segment. The stunning new vehicle offers versatility, functionality, and significant storage capabilities designed to incorporate the active lives of drivers. It's Volvo's third SUV, and in Canada, it will be equipped with their T5 Drive-E powertrain.

FCA Keeps Canada's Favourite Ram 1500 Trim Alive for 2019
FCA

Of all the available models and trims available with the outgoing Ram 1500 pickup, Canadians loved the Sport the most. That's why, when the freshly redesigned 2019 truck officially launches later this year, we'll see another Ram 1500 Sport -- and it's just for us.

Unique to the Ram 1500 Sport is monochromatic paintwork -- no two-tone or chrome bumpers here -- plus blacked-out headlight bezels, grille, and, of course, badges. Twenty-inch wheels are standard, but 22s are optional. Also optional is a more aggressively styled hood. Inside are unique seats exclusive to Canada; a cloth-and-leather combo is standard.

Under the hood, you can only have the Sport one way: the 5.7L Hemi V8 makes 395 hp and 410 lb.-ft. of torque and is hooked up to an eight-speed automatic.
