Everyone needs a “paraclete,” i.e., someone to help in spiritual growth and accountability in their walks of faith. This is why our imperative corporate involvement in the body of Christ is of vital importance.
It is interesting that a ceremonially clean person was to perform the ritual of cleansing for the person who had touched a dead body, otherwise that person was to be expelled from the community. During the 40-year period of wilderness wandering, there was an average of 42 deaths a day. If only the priests had that responsibility, they would have become unclean through the continual process and would not have been able to perform their priestly duties.
The once-and-for-all sacrifice of Jesus and his shed blood brings cleansing from all sin. However, we are accountable to each other in the family of God, and every Christian now has the privilege and responsibility of bringing others to Christ for cleansing. We do not need to have special training or college degrees to accomplish this. In this manner, our sharing of the good news and our speaking Christ into the lives of others helps bring them to the cleansing so vitally needed for salvation.
Father, through the filling and guidance of your Holy Spirit, help me to simply share your good news with others so they will be lead to the cleansing made possible by the Ultimate Sacrifice, Jesus.
