When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the LORD. When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses’ face, they were afraid to come near him.
When I read this passage, I thought “I don’t know if I have ever had a radiant face,” except maybe right after a sunburn or on special occasions when I might use blush with a little shine or glitter. But then I looked up the meaning of the word and the definition I like best is “glowing with love, confidence or joy.” Wow! Moses was so filled with love, confidence and joy when he came from spending time with the Lord that he had to cover his face because the people could not look at him.
I have a friend who has spent the last couple of years going through breast cancer recovery, including surgery and massive amounts of chemo. But through it all, she has been the minister. When I spend time with her, talk with her, look in her face, it is obvious that she has spent a lot time with the Lord. Even during her lowest times, she was ministering and witnessing to doctors, nurses and other patients. My prayer is that any time I spend with God will show on my face.
Lord, help us to radiate you.
