Has there ever been a time in your life when you did not have enough money to make ends meet? In Deuteronomy 15:4–5, God tells the Israelites that they do not need to worry about being poor because he will bless them, if they follow and obey him. In verse 11, we see where God tells them the poor will always be with them. This seems to be a contradiction until you remember the “if.” We are more than God’s people — we are his children through Jesus Christ, and so God has made us the same promise. He will meet all our needs and bless us, as long as we follow him and obey his laws.
God knows the hearts of men are naturally evil because we live in a world that is evil. He knows that, no matter how hard we try on our own, we are unable to go through a day without sin and we must pay the consequences for that sin. Thankfully, we do not face our sin alone. Jesus promises to forgive us our sins when we confess and repent, thus we still receive his blessings every day. Don’t let the “ifs” rob you of God’s blessings. Ask him and he will give you strength to overcome whatever you are facing. God loves you and made a way for you to receive the blessings he wants you to have. All you must do is ask, believe and obey.
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for loving me and making a way for me to have forgiveness for my sins. I proclaim the promise you made to bless me, if I obey and follow you. Help me to obey you and follow your will. I can’t do it alone. I love you, Lord, and praise your holy name. In Jesus name, Amen.
