“Are you lazy? Why do you wait?” Such was the scathing rebuke that Joshua gave to the seven tribes of Israel who had delayed their possessing the land God had designated as their inheritance. One senses the frustration in Joshua when he scolds them for what he calls their “slackness.”
What about us and all that God has prepared for us to accomplish in our lives? It seems that the more we delay and procrastinate, the more probable our inaction becomes. I once had an employee whose job it was to travel and visit alumni, friends and donors of our institution. But every day, he was in his office getting ready. He spent so much time planning that he lost his ambition to get on the road. I know I haven’t “taken possession” of all that God has for me and time is growing short. How about you?
Muscles that are not used soon atrophy and become useless.
