WHEN GIANTS RETURN
Tuesday, June 25, 2019
The account given in Joshua 15:14 of Caleb driving out “the three sons of Anak” is intriguing. This isn’t the first time we have heard of these three — Caleb also encountered them 45 years earlier (Num. 13:22). Perhaps Sheshai, Ahiman and Talmai somehow recaptured their land and, if so, had now reached a rather advanced age. Possibly they were descendants of the original giants; however, Caleb was unafraid and defeated his returning foes.

Life can be like that for a Christian. Those greatest enemies of our faithful walk, once overcome and put aside, can come back and must be faced again. Whatever sins, temptations, losses or other vulnerabilities we may have, Satan will seek to sift us again and again. Just as Caleb was not frightened the first time he met these chieftains, he was not afraid to face them again. We too, having won the battle before, should not be daunted the second time.

One who fears God fears nothing else.
