ABRAHAM IS BLESSED IN ALL THINGS
Thursday, January 14, 2021
As we go through the biblical narrative of Abraham, we realize that the Lord had truly blessed Abraham in all things. He went through severe trials, some of which were blessings in disguise. The blessings were temporal as well as spiritual. Genesis 24:1 is the short story of his long life. Abraham lived until he was 175. The Lord told him that he would bless him, and he did so. It is interesting to note that God blessed him when he commanded him to slay his son, and even when his wife Sarah passed on. Abraham was blessed with long life, honor, riches and children.

As we grow older, there is a tendency to give up on certain aspects of life, thinking that they are no longer possible. Looking at the above verse, we find that there is hope because God blessed Abraham in all things, despite the fact that he was well-advanced in age.

In our late 50s, my husband Wilfred and I were thinking of buying a house. Our friends said that it would not be possible to get a bank loan to purchase a house because of our age. Trusting the Lord, and upon making the necessary enquiries, we found that God had opened doors for us at the right time and the right place. Today, we own a nice house, and everyone who walks in says it is indeed a blessing from the Lord. The Lord is still at work in our lives even though we are old. Praise be to our God. God’s uncommon favor was with us.

We also want to praise God for the deep-spirited connection of Advent Missions prayer support over us, so loyal and faithful, which is a great blessing in our advanced years, and this is a priceless spiritual blessing.

Many are the blessings that all of us can experience even though we are senior citizens. When we acknowledge the Lord in all things, he will surely direct our paths, even as he directed Abraham in the days of old.

When we acknowledge the Lord in all things, he will direct our paths.
