Have you ever been amazed at how many medical personnel work within a hospital? At a hospital you may find cardiologists, anesthesiologists, dermatologists, pulmonologists and so on. You may find nurses skilled in the above and other medical needs as well. Let us be thankful that there are so many who are called to such specialized medicine, given that it affords such great care for each patient.
When I ponder over so many medical personnel and their impact on mankind’s health, I am drawn to think of how each believer has a specific calling upon his or her life for the spiritual well being of other believers around them.
In today’s passages, we see where God separated the tribe of Levi for the priesthood. God not only set apart the tribe of Levi, he set the tribe apart within itself. Giving each a specific task to fulfill. Some were to carry certain parts of the tabernacle when it was to be moved, others where to preform ministry tasks so that no one else would feel the need to serve outside their specific calling. God set apart the tribe of Levi this way so that the entirety of the people could be best cared for spiritually.
How are you called and set apart? Peter states in 1 Peter 2:9 that the believer is called and chosen, a royal priesthood, a holy nation. Not for your own self-pleasure, though, have you been called. You have been called and gifted for the spiritual well being of those around you.
Do you like for people to be encouraged? Be the encourager. Do you enjoy seeing people learn God’s Word? Be the teacher or preacher if God is calling. Do you enjoy seeing people become less anxious as they talk issues out? Be the one who listens.
There are so many good and specific ways that God has set his people apart for his glory. I pray that today you will be encouraged to seek God for his calling upon your life and that you will utilize it for his glory.
