LIFE IN GOD'S HANDS

Have you ever tried to make sense of an event or moment in your life only to end up baffled, confused and/or dumbfounded?

If so, you are in the company of a lot of other people. In the readings for today, we noticed that Pharaoh, his cupbearer and his chief baker all had dreams that they could not make sense of. Dreams that we know from our reading would be life-changing for each of them.

Each one struggled to try and make sense of their dream and my guess is they lost sleep over it and carried anxiety with them because of it. But then they meet Joseph. Joseph held an important truth that Pharaoh, his cupbearer and his chief baker needed to know. What was this truth, the truth that only God can interpret and make sense of that which we cannot?

As you are reading this, you may have be trying to make sense of a bad health diagnosis, the news of a loved one who has died or any other million or so things that can really stop us in our tracks. However, I want to encourage us today, as Pharaoh, his cupbearer and his chief baker surrendered their dreams (that which they could not make sense of) to Joseph and he to God for interpretation, let us do likewise with all that baffles us. Let us surrender everything, knowing and believing that what we can’t make sense of, God already has and he in his time and as he deems necessary, will make sense of it all for us.
