Sarah is laid to rest. She experienced many God-directed events with Abraham. She experienced the miraculous pregnancy and birth of Isaac, the promise of God. The time came for Isaac to have a wife. Abraham commissioned his chief servant to seek a wife for his son with the assurance an angel of the Lord would go before him and lead him to the right woman for his son. The chief servant prayed for direction from God and asked for a specific sign. Genesis 24 tells the story of how that was confirmed by God. Rebekah was God’s chosen wife for Isaac. God had a plan for all these.
When you have sensed God’s direction for your life, what was your response? Push it aside? Pray about it? Ask for a sign? Step out with commitment? I have asked God for specific signs at various stages of my life. The signs for which I asked were revealed. I made decisions based on I what believed was God’s direction from the sign. God fulfilled his plan for me, even providing more than I asked. When deciding whether to move to North Carolina, a moment came when I believe God spoke to my heart very directly and clearly. Getting where God wants one to be is a challenge of trust and obedience. God has a plan for you. Where are you? Ask for a sign. Ask for discernment. Trust God for the outcome.
Lord, I have failed many times to seek your direction. Help me trust in your plan for my life in the days ahead. Forgive my disobedience. Amen.
