Moses sees a burning bush in the wilderness. He is amazed and approaches the bush. God calls from within the bush and commands Moses to take off his sandals because he is on holy ground, in the presence of Holy God. God calls Moses to be a leader of Israel to deliver them from the oppression of Pharaoh. 

Though Moses has many excuses as to why he is not the best choice, God knows Moses’ heart and tells Moses, “I will be with you. I AM Who I Am!” God’s time was right. God’s plan was right. God’s man was right!

Israel is called God’s firstborn son. A firstborn son was an heir of the birthright, one who received a special blessing. 

God still calls men and women to carry out his plans at his time. God’s plan is for mankind to come to the saving grace of Jesus Christ and a renewed relationship with God, one’s heavenly Father. One may think of many excuses to have God call another person. But God knows each heart and the plans for each one he calls. It is the best time, and you are the best person God can use. There is one who needs to be delivered from sin. You are the one God will use. 

God does not usually speak through a burning bush. He speaks through whatever means will get one’s attention. Are you listening? Are you willing? Are you available for God’s call?

Heavenly Father, thank you for your call to your service. May my ears always be open to hear your call. In Jesus’ name, amen.
