Make New Friends at the Cinema Arts Centre!
Watching movies at the CAC is a truly wonderful experience. As a non-profit independent art house, the movies shown at CAC are thought-provoking, eye-opening, and entertaining. To bring this movie-going experience to the next level, I started the Huntington Film & Discussion Group last May, after hearing feedback from current CAC members. Together we watch movies and then follow up with a discussion, usually held in the café, about what we thought about the movie, its message, and everything in between.

One of regular attendees, Mary, says that “being at CAC is always a pleasure. The meetup provides an opportunity to discuss films and exchange ideas, and provides an intellectual and social forum.” Bob, another meetup regular, says, “The meet up is really like getting together with good friends – friends who enjoy movies.”  With over 260 members to date, we are going strong. We are a community within a community. Thank you to everyone who has joined, and participated. You make us who we are! We meet weekly and you can join us on www.meetup.com/Huntington-Film-Discussion-Meetup/  We would love for you to join us!

Welcome Amy's of Huntington - Our Exclusive Flower Sponsor!
Beginning in 2019, Amy's of Huntington has become our exclusive flower sponsor. While Amy's of Huntington has supported select events with beautiful flower arrangements for years, this year Amy LoMele has deepened her commitment to enhancing CAC programs by becoming our exclusive flower sponsor, committing to a number of events in the coming year, including our much-anticipated Academy Awards Night Fundraiser .

It's amazing how flowers can transform our space. Especially when we have celebrity guests, Amy's designs and arrangements make them feel truly special. We are deeply grateful for this meaningful in-kind support. Thank you Amy's of Huntington.

Amy's of Huntington, owned by lifelong flower girl and expert Amy LoMele, is a boutique floral and event company specializing in weddings, special occasions, and events. Amy and her staff have been creating innovative, elegant, and beautiful floral décor for over 20 years. Amy will work with you to transform your dreams to reality. Amy is passionate about flowers, seeking out unique combinations of colors and textures to create a one-of-a-kind look.
WE'RE SO CLOSE!
As a not-for-profit independent community cinema, we invest our revenue in film and cultural events for our community. In addition to our regular daily features - films that generally cannot be found in the commercial multiplex - we present about 300 special events every year. Our total program and operating budget is about $3,000,000. We raise those funds through ticket sales, cafe sales, grants, advertising, rentals, membership, and contributions to our annual appeal, the Vic Skolnick Life of Our Cinema Campaign.

Last year, the Cinema Arts Centre:

  • Served over 2,000 public school students through our Film Arts in Education program
  • Partnered with many local community and not-for-profit organizations to maximize impact on a wide variety of issues such as climate change, reproductive freedom, racial justice, prison reform, media literacy, ableism, the opioid crisis, income disparity, gender equality, and more!
  • Presented over 300 special events, including 122 guest speakers, 93 musical performances, 48 films presented on 35mm, and special series such as Sky Room Talks, Comedy Night, Sensory Friendly
  • Screenings, Out at the Movies, Cinema Preview Club, and more!
  • Presented 60 documentaries
  • Presented films from 55 different countries

Making our goal to raise $145,000 through our campaign will help to ensure that we are able to continue this record of service to our community through independent film, cultural, and educational programs of uncompromising quality in 2019.

If you have already made your gift, thank you so much!

If not...
