Interested in helping to extend infertility coverage to all Maine residents? Here are three great ways to help:
1. Testify at Wednesday's Public Hearing: One of the keys to passing a pending bill to extend insurance coverage for infertility benefits is for patients to testify this Wednesday, March 23, at the public hearing before the Insurance and Financial Services Committee in Augusta (details below). Sharing your personal experience will have a huge impact on legislators! Please let us know as soon as possible if you plan to attend, so that we can coordinate the most effective presentation for the public hearing. If you need help drafting your testimony, please feel free to send an email to Andrew Helman at ahelman@bernsteinshur.com.
2. Contact Members of the Insurance and Financial Services Committee: If you are unable to attend the public hearing but want to help, send a letter, email, or telephone message to members of the Insurance and Financial Services Committee - and ask your friends and family members to do so too. Here's a link where you can find contact information for the Committee as well as individual members of the Committee: http://www.maine.gov/legis/house/jt_com/ifs.htm.
3. Contact your Legislator: In addition, you can also contact your own State Senator or State Representative directly and ask them for their support of this issue. Here's where you can find a link to contact information for your State Senator or State Representative: http://www.maine.gov/legis/house/townlist.htm.
