Margaret was unable to attend this year's C4L Boulder because she was receiving treatment for ovarian cancer after attending a C4L in 2014 and realizing she had the
symptoms and seeing her doctor upon her return home. #IamHERA

You'll be interested to know this past month I attended the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance (OCNA) conference in sunny San Diego. Thanks to your generosity, HERA has partnered with OCNA and other orgs to fund the Stand Up To Cancer Ovarian Cancer Dream Team with a commitment of $200,000. It was a phenomenal experience to see so many survivors, scientists, and advocates coming together to discuss a future with curable ovarian cancer. My biggest takeaway was that much progress has been made overall in the field of science and cancer; however ovarian cancer continues to be one of the more challenging types of cancer to detect at an early stage - and early detection is a game changer for survival.** It filled my heart with teal hope to meet women who have survived 1,5,10, 20, and even 30+ years after diagnosis. It was also really great to meet so many nonprofits who have benefited from a Community Grant from HERA for education and awareness purposes. We'll announce the 2015 grantees in our next newsletter. For me this conference affirmed what our HERA Board of Directors has tirelessly been working on this year - growing our funding efforts to help push the ovarian cancer problem forward in greater ways. If you haven't yet contributed, we have about $14,000 we still need to raise this summer. Please consider making a donation today. Women like Maggie, Margaret, and so many others are counting on your support of science to change the tide of ovarian cancer. Joining the Sean Patrick Empowerment Circle is a powerful way to help and we make it easy with a monthly donation option.
