Saturday, June 8

The Madison Downtown Development Commission has an exciting announcement for our 32nd farmers market year in Madison, NJ!

We are rebranding - the event will now be called the Madison Farm & Artisan Market. It will be held on Saturdays, and the season will be expanded from May 25 through December 14. The hours will be 9:00 am - to 2:00 pm. The location will be changing as well!

The Market will now be located in the Prospect Street Parking Lot at the corner of Kings Road and Prospect Street.

Our commitment to making this a community-centered event with great vendors, diverse product offerings, family-oriented activities, entertainment, and opportunities for local non-profits and businesses to participate will remain the same.

These changes were necessary to ensure that the Market continues to thrive. Some of the advantages we see are as follows:

  • Increased accessibility for customers and vendors
  • Bringing more people to beautiful Downtown Madison
  • Increased parking availability
  • Better surface for vehicles and customers
  • Accessibility to the Madison Train Station

Weekly Features!

Did you know that June is National Dairy Month? Madison Farm & Artisan Market is one of only a handful of markets in the entire state that offers Jersey Fresh goat dairy products. Gorgeous Goat Creamery is the only dairy that bottles goat milk and makes goat milk yogurt, which makes its offerings in Madison really unique!

Gorgeous Goat Creamery is a new farm joining the Madison Farmer and Artisan Market this year. Nestled in western Hunterdon County, owners Matt Kriegler and Maria Stewart are thrilled to bring their popular farmstead goat cheese, along with bottled goat milk and goat milk yogurt, to the market. Their family-owned and operated farm bottles the milk and makes the cheese in small batches right on the farm. They also offer a range of handmade soaps and lotions that include goat milk as a natural moisturizing ingredient. Look for the green tent at the market this week to meet Maria or Matt and try a sample of their delicious goat dairy products. Learn more about their farm at www.gorgeousgoat.com.

6th Annual Pollinator Plant Giveaway, June 8

Reserve your plant (quantities are limited) for pick up from 10 a.m. to noon.

Unclaimed plants will be given away to walk-ups from noon to 1 p.m.

Once again, our Pollinator Giveaway is the gift of Joan Maccari, a biologist, native plants educator, and Madison Environmental Commission member. She has grown 4 species of pollinator plants from seed. Why? β€œNew Jersey used to be filled with vacant lots and meadows where wildflowers grew,” says Maccari. β€œSuburban yards are actually well suited to replicating pollinator-friendly environments with native species that caterpillars rely on, such as milkweed and many of the plants in our giveaway.”

WHERE: Madison Farmer's Market, Prospect Street Parking Lot at the corner of Kings Road and Prospect Street.

WHEN: Reserved plants can be picked up from 10 am to noon.

From 12 to 1 pm, unclaimed plants will be given away to walk-ups. We're leaving at 1 pm.

Live Music Returns!ο»Ώ

Live music will again be featured at the Madison Farmers Market! Beginning Saturday, May 25 through December 14

ο»Ώfrom 11:30 to 1:30 pm.

John Lepre

John is from Morris County, NJ, and has been performing music since the age of 13. His parents bought him his first bass guitar, redirecting his original desire to play the drums.

He quickly learned to play all the music he could from stars of the day like The Beatles, The Temptations, The Allman Brothers, and many others.

As a young man, he played with several other musicians from his high school and neighboring towns in a number of bands. After his school years, he seized an opportunity to perform with the touring band of The Box Tops. This band traveled throughout the US and Canada.

During this period, John realized that he was a born performer and began to expand his musical talents, especially his singing. Throughout the coming years, John played in several bands and honed his talents as both a bass player and singer. While he always dabbled in guitar and even piano, it wasn’t until the pandemic that John fully embraced

playing guitar.

He began with an acoustic guitar and held Facebook live sessions to entertain family and friends weekly. That led to many song requests, which expanded his repertoire.

Fast forward to today, and John has added electric guitar, playing both acoustic and electric.

His voice, a natural baritone, has range up to first tenor. He's been performing his one-man-band shows to many happy fans. He is especially known for his ability to engage audiences from multiple generations. John is constantly polishing his

craft, and adding new songs to his over 1000 song catalog.
