New Mayor Urban Carmel Gives a Speech About the Power of Community Service

In his first City Council hearing since he became Mayor, Councilmember Urban Carmel sought to answer a question he’s often asked: why would you want to be in public service? His answer: “It’s the people. People bring incredible passion, intelligence, interest, time, effort, their pocketbook, to make this community better. I’ve never seen anything like this anywhere I’ve ever lived in my life.”

What's On Your Mind Mill Valley?

Mayor Urban Carmel, Vice Mayor Stephen Burke, and City Manager Todd Cusimano invite you to a “Community Chat” at 5:30 pm on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Mill Valley City Hall and via Zoom. This is a series of informal meetings intended to give you the opportunity to discuss current issues, ask questions, make suggestions, and share what is on your mind.

There are no time limits and no structure - just join us and have a chat! All are welcome. Learn how to participate here.

Vice Mayor Stephen Burke, who serves on the board of the Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority, urges Mill Valley community members to prioritize learning about wildfire behavior.
