Sales Tax Measure Update

This week, Mill Valley leaders released an informational video outlining the City's infrastructure needs and plans to present a 1% Sales Tax rate increase to voters in November. The video features community members from the 15-person Infrastructure Funding Study Committee, who thoroughly examined the issue and provided recommendations to the Council. Watch the Video here.


What's next? On Monday, August 5, 2024, Council will consider a Resolution in Support of the Sales Tax Measure. Join us - Meeting details will be posted here next week.

Police News

Join Mill Valley Police Department at the annual National Night Out - You are invited to the 40th annual National Night Out August 6, 2024 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Downtown Depot. This family friendly event is a great opportunity to gather on a lovely summer evening and build community while getting to know our local police department and other City and community agencies. 

Captain Lindsay Haynes Graduates from the FBI National Academy - On June 7, 2024, Captain Lindsay Haynes graduated as a member of the 290th session of the FBI National Academy. Captain Haynes is the first female officer in Mill Valley Police Department history to complete this prestigious program. Nationally, fewer than one percent of officers have the opportunity to attend the program.

Sergeant Michael Puccetti Recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving - On July 9, 2024, Mill Valley Police Sergeant Michael Puccetti was recognized by MADD - Mothers Against Drunk Driving for his efforts in DUI prevention and impaired driving enforcement.

The Legacy of Marin City - July 1st through September 30th “The Legacy of Marin City” is featured at all 10 branches of the Marin County Free Library! Upcoming Storm Drain Maintenance

Intersection Work at Throckmorton Ave and Corte Madera Ave - City of Mill Valley crew members will perform maintenance work to repair storm drain infrastructure at the intersection of Throckmorton Avenue and Corte Madera Avenue on Monday, July 22nd, between 8am - 5pm.

November 5, 2024 General Municipal Election - Nomination Period Open!

Three City Council seats are up for election at the November 5, 2024 General Municipal Election. The nomination period closes on August 9, 2024 at 5:00 pm (pending an extended nomination period, which closes on August 14, 2024). Learn more about our upcoming City Council election.

You're Invited To Attend An Evacuation Drill Event On July 20, 2024 at 11 am in the Depot Plaza. Join your local public safety officials in the Annual Evacuation Drill! This is a great opportunity to learn directly from the Mill Valley Police Department and Southern Marin Fire District about community safety and disaster preparedness in your neighborhood. Residents are highly encouraged to sign up for emergency notifications through Alert Marin prior to attending.


Stay Informed During Emergencies By Registering For AlertMarin Emergency Notification System - Did you know that less than 40% of Mill Valley residents are properly registered to receive an emergency notification through Alert Marin? Emergency officials use the AlertMarin Emergency Notification System to provide you with critical information and potentially life-saving instruction.

Reminder To Review Your Wildfire Risk Home Evaluations - Southern Marin Fire District is committed to working with you to reduce the risk of wildfire through home hardening and defensible space evaluations on your property. Neighbors in Mill Valley’s Cascade Canyon neighborhood have recently been evaluated for wildfire risk with the help of Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority, funded by Tax Measure C (2020).
