MUSD Student Board Representatives honored for providing student voices, being student leaders


Milpitas Unified School District's 2023-24 School Year Student Board Representatives Satvika Iyer of Milpitas High School, Janice Herradura of MUSD Middle College High School and Arianna Rocha of Calaveras Hills High School were recognized by the Board of Education and District leadership at the May 28 meeting for being student leaders and serving as the voice of their respective schools on the MUSD board.

MUSD celebrates its 2024 Volunteers of the Year


MUSD's Board of Education and District leadership honored the its 2024 Volunteers of the Year for their service and contributions to their respective school sites. The honorees were: Burnett's Janis Asrat; Curtner's Tina Nguyen Nievera; Mattos' Helen Shin Pomeroy's Malia Martin; Randall's Sheryl Militar; Rose's Angel Perez; Sinnott's Marlo Toy; Spangler's Kankana Saxena; Weller's Staci Tran; Zanker's Tina Fontenot-Martin; Rancho's Shauna Badger; Russell's Elaine Silveria; Milpitas HS's David Crum; Calaveras Hills HS's Laura Viken; Milpitas Middle College HS's Jasmin Jose; Child Development Centers' Victoria Moses; and Milpitas Adult Ed Corrections's Dr. Maxine Amundson of The Villages Country Club Library.

Students at Pomeroy Elementary School produced this video reading of Resolution 2024.41 Declaring the Week of May 19-25, 2024 as Classified School Employee Week.

Recognitions

Special Ed teacher Charanpreet Walia


Sinnott Elementary School Special Education Teacher Charanpreet Walia was recognized by the Board of Education and District leadership for earning the SouthEast Consortium SELPA CAPTAIN Implementation Award.

MHS badminton team


Milpitas High School badminton team was honored by the Board of Education and District leadership for being exemplary student-athletes and completing a championship season in league, CCS and beyond.

MHS baseball team


Milpitas High School baseball team was recognized by the Board of Education and District leadership for being exemplary student-athletes, completing an undefeated league championship season and qualifying for the CCS Playoffs.

National Merit Scholars Awardees Angie Wang, Andrew Ton


Milpitas HS seniors Angie Wang and Andrew Ton were honored for being exemplary students and earning a National Merit Scholar Finalist Scholarships. Wang was awarded a $2,500 National Merit Scholarship and plans to study Computer Science at UC Berkeley in the fall, while Ton was the recipient of the National Merit University of Southern California Scholarship and will study Bio-Chemistry at USC.

Curtner Elementary's 2024 MEO Team


Curtner Elementary School Milpitas Elementary Olympics Team were honored by the Board of Education and District leadership for winning the 2024 MEO Overall School Points Championship and the Team Relay Championship.

President's Volunteer Award Recipients

MUSD President's Volunteer Service Award Winners from Thomas Russell Middle School were recognized by the Board of Education and District leadership for their volunteer service to the Milpitas community. TRMS teacher Stephanie Woodhams presented a special certificate to each recipient.

MHS EL Dual

Enrollment students

Milpitas High School English Learner (EL) Dual Enrollment students were honored by the Board of Education and District leadership for their academic achievements this school year by attaining 5 High School English credits, 10 elective credits, and starting their first official college transcripts.

Highlights

MUSD Innovation Campus Phase 3 Feasibility Study offers three options to Board

After hearing from Aaron Jobson, President of QKA, on the feasibility study for Phase 3 of the MUSD Innovation Campus with the scope of work moving forward, the Board of Education voted for Option A, which consisted of full replacement of two older structures to build the Workforce Development and Childhood Development Centers.

A target project completion date is the summer of 2026.

Trustees outline Board of Education Annual Scholarship

Board of Education President Ming Ngo led discussion with Board Trustees on the Annual Board Scholarship while generating $1,400 in donations from trustees, staff and community members for the MUSD Class of 2024 graduates from Milpitas High School, Calaveras Hills High School and MUSD Middle College High School.

Committee shares progress with LCAP Study Session Pt. 2

Executive Director of Learning and Innovation Priti Johari, along with her LCAP committee, outlined the 2024-27 LCAP Draft during a second study session on the Local Control and Accountability Plan, including the LCAP goals, progress indicators/metrics and actions with proposed expenditures, and budget allocations in direct alignment with eight state priorities.

Superintendent Cheryl Jordan shared her latest State of the District Update, which included the district's Attendance Rates thus far this 2023-24 school year.
