New Scholarship opportunity for MUSD students entering trades


TBK Construction Management is offering a new"Boots and Tools Scholarship" for graduating seniors from Milpitas HS and Calaveras Hills HS who are entering the trades right after graduation, with five $1,000 scholarships for the 2024 graduating class and five $1,000 scholarships for the 2025 graduating class. "TBK is passionate about providing opportunities for MUSD Learners who are interested in pursuing a career in the trades," Travis Kirk said. "We are also passionate about giving back to the communities we have the privilege of serving."

STEAM Showcase features student ingenuity from throughout the district

MUSD Director of Technology Chin Song, Data Analyst Hazel Won, Technology Teacher Mentor Karen Muska shared a 2024 STEAM Showcase Report, along with participating students from Rancho Milpitas Middle School Tech Academy Teacher Vincent Tran’s class and others. MUSD partners with the Milpitas Community Education Foundation to host the annual showcase.


The STEAM Showcase, an annual district-wide event designed to share students' work with the community, celebrates evidence of learning and highlights innovative projects and programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, & Math.

Board moves forward with contracts for parcel measure preparation and polling

The Board of Education unanimously approved a pair of agreements; with Props & Measures for the feasibility of a new parcel measure; and EMC Research for parcel measure polling to explore the potential for a parcel measure on the November 2024 ballot.


The two firms will work in conjunction to provide information regarding the likelihood that a future parcel measure will pass, and the parameters and ballot language for a measure that voters may support. The consultants perform initial voter surveys, recommend potential election dates, develop an informational communication plan using the results of the survey and develop a plan to cultivate community involvement and interest in the parcel measure efforts.

Enrollment Projections Report for current, future school years

Demographic expert Tom Williams has conducted enrollment studies for MUSD for over 20 years, and his projections have been extremely accurate with a less than 1% margin of error. Mr. Williams presented a summary of the data that he has compiled in determining how and in what areas of Milpitas our enrollment is climbing as well as decreasing. The report provides district staff with data for staffing and program planning.

Program Manager Michelle Sherer was promoted to MUSD's New Director of Special Education, beginning in the 2024-25 school year.

Chief Innovator shares MUSD Innovation Campus Update

Greg Wohlman, Principal and Chief Innovator of Milpitas High School and New Campus Programs, shared an update regarding enrollment and programming at the MHS Extension at the MUSD Innovation Campus for the 2024-25 school year.

LCAP study session Part I outlines three goals

The 2024-27 LCAP Draft includes three broad goals, progress indicators/metrics and actions with proposed expenditures, and budget allocations in direct alignment with eight state priorities. Part II is scheduled for May 28.
