Vaping: Danger in the Mist
|
New York State recently announced a ban on the sale of flavored electronic cigarettes and nicotine e-liquids, following a vote on emergency regulations by the Public Health and Health Planning Council.
The ban seeks to combat the increase in young people using vape products, largely as a result of e-cigarette companies marketing flavors that are intended to get children addicted to nicotine (9.19.19 NYS Governor Cuomo Press Release). According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the CDC, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), state and local health departments, and other clinical and public health partners are investigating a multi-state outbreak of severe pulmonary disease associated with e-cigarette product (devices, liquids, refill pods, and/or cartridges) use. This investigation is ongoing and has not identified a cause, but all reported cases have a history of using e-cigarette products (CDC, 9.11.19).
Massapequa Takes Action Coalition (MTAC) invites all parents with children (K-12) and residents to
Vaping: Danger in the Mist
, a vaping prevention education program on
Tuesday, October 15
th
at 7:00 p.m. in Massapequa High School’s Little Theater.
YES Community Counseling Center will address recent vaping health concerns and dangers with Q & A to follow the presentation.
We encourage all parents and residents to attend this program to further understand today's youth vaping epidemic.
