Season's Greetings From the City of Monterey Park!
The City wishes you and yours a happy and safe holiday season! In observance of the holidays, the following adjustments will be in effect:
- City hall will be closed December 25-28 and January 1.
- Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library will be closed December 23 and 25, and December 30 and January 1.
- Langley Senior Center will be closed December 24-25 and December 31-January 1.
- Athens trash collection will be delayed by one day for the weeks of December 25 and January 1.
- Monterey Park Police Department will not enforce street sweeping and permit parking restrictions Tuesday, December 19 through Tuesday, January 2.
- The Farmers' Market will be closed December 28 and January 4.
- The Spirit Bus will not be in service December 25 and January 1.
- The city hall police counter will continue to be open regular hours.

State of the City Address, January 10
The public is invited to the 2024 City of Monterey Park State of the City Address:

Topics will include Monterey Park’s major accomplishments, progress updates of capital projects and future goals of the City. The event will be live streamed at www.youtube.com/@MontParkTV as well as recorded for later broadcast on MPK-TV cable TV.

Join Us in Remembrance: The January 21 Candlelight Vigil
The City of Monterey Park invites the community to join together for a remembrance of the tragic events that took place on January 21, 2023.
The candlelight vigil is an opportunity for the community to come together in unity and support. The event will provide a space for reflection and healing as we honor the memory of the victims of the January 21 shooting and stand together against violence.

Farmers' Market Canceled for Thursday, December 21
Market to reopen January 11 after the holiday break
We regret that the Farmers' Market will be closed tonight, December 21, due to weather. Additionally, the market will be closed until January 11 due to the holidays.
Please visit the market beginning on January 11 for fresh produce, hot foods, local vendors and live entertainment on Thursday evenings from 4 to 9 p.m. at Barnes Park near the tennis/pickleball courts. Barnes Park is located at 350 S. McPherrin Avenue next to city hall.

"MPK Hope" Mental Health Support Available at Sierra Vista Park
If you, or anyone that you know, were directly or indirectly affected by the shooting that took place in January 2023, please reach out to Chinatown Service Center at the MPK Hope Resiliency Center to learn about the available mental health programs.
Programs offered include support groups, counseling, resource assistance, journaling guidance, victim services and more.
Please refer to the webpage or contact CSC for operating hours and programs.

Langley Senior Center Extends Weekend Operating Hours
The City of Monterey Park Recreation and Community Services Department will be extending the hours of operation at Langley Senior Center starting December 1, 2023. This extension of hours will allow greater access and opportunities for adults ages 50 and over to participate in recreation activities and programs.
The new extended hours of operation will be on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ongoing weekday operating hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m..

SBA Offering Disaster Assistance to MPK Small Businesses Impacted by the Mass Shooting
The U.S. Small Business Administration is offering low-interest federal disaster loans for working capital to small businesses and private nonprofit organizations economically impacted by the Monterey Park mass shooting and related investigations from January 21-28, 2023.
Free, personalized counseling and application assistance in English, Chinese, Spanish and other languages is available through the Pasadena Small Business Development Center (SBDC).

City Continues the Work of Healing Our Community
The Monterey Park Community Healing Fund has been established to support Monterey Park and its neighbors through aid to community members affected by this tragedy as well as support for programs, initiatives and organizations designed to help Monterey Park heal and rebuild.

Drop-in Crisis Counseling and Services Available at the Library
Drop-in multilingual counseling and services provided by Chinatown Service Center are available on Fridays from 2-6 p.m. at the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library.
Additionally, Department of Mental Health will provided drop-in counseling and services at Langley Senior Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Bulky Item Collection is FREE After a Quick Phone Call or E-request | |
Bulky items are ones that are too large to fit in your automated container or dumpster, such as old furniture, mattresses and appliances.
Typical items include sofas, rugs, lamps, stoves, refrigerators, chairs, desks, as well as bundles of cardboard or palm fronds.
Free curbside pickup can be arranged through Athens Services at 888-336-6100 or via their website.

Monterey Park City Hall Open Monday-Thursday | |
Monterey Park City Hall is open for in person services during the following hours:
- Monday through Thursday: 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Friday: Closed.
Other city facilities such as Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library, Langley Senior Center and the police counter will have other operating hours. For more information, please visit the city website or contact the desired department.
