Bring the entire family – and blankets and lawn chairs – to Barnes Park and enjoy a free movie, recreational activities and the Farmers' Market on selected Thursday nights this summer.

Starting August 2024, the City of Monterey Park will transition from its current online payment system, Paymentus, to InvoiceCloud.

Classic Film Actress Constance Towers to Attend Library Screening
Film enthusiasts are invited to a special screening of the John Ford classic, “Sergeant Rutledge,” at the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library on Saturday, August 3 at 1 p.m. After the movie, film historian Foster Hirsch will lead a discussion with the star of the film, Constance Towers and Christopher Hunter, son of the film's co-star, Jeffrey Hunter.

Trash Collection & Recycling Changes Coming in September
Beginning September 1, residential trash collection will be serviced by Ware Disposal. Residents will continue to receive key services such as:
- Curbside collection of trash, recycling and organics.
- Free bulky item pickup (unlimited).
- Free electronic waste pickup (4x year).
- Free rollout services for eligible customers.
- Quarterly cleanup events.
Before the transition, Ware will be providing three new trash containers. Ware will also be billing residents directly and payments will not go through the City.

"MPK Hope" Mental Health Support Available at Sierra Vista Park
If you, or anyone that you know, were directly or indirectly affected by the shooting that took place in January 2023, please reach out to Chinatown Service Center at the MPK Hope Resiliency Center to learn about the available mental health programs.
Programs offered include support groups, counseling, resource assistance, journaling guidance, victim services and more.

Drop-in Crisis Counseling and Services Available at the Library
Drop-in multilingual counseling and services provided by Chinatown Service Center are available on Fridays from 2-6 p.m. at the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library.
Additionally, Department of Mental Health will provided drop-in counseling and services at Langley Senior Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Bulky Item Collection is FREE After a Quick Phone Call or E-request | |
Bulky items are ones that are too large to fit in your automated container or dumpster, such as old furniture, mattresses and appliances.
Typical items include sofas, rugs, lamps, stoves, refrigerators, chairs, desks, as well as bundles of cardboard or palm fronds.
Free curbside pickup can be arranged through Athens Services at 888-336-6100 or via their website.

Monterey Park City Hall is open for in person services during the following hours:
- Monday through Thursday: 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Friday: Closed.
Other city facilities such as Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library, Langley Senior Center and the police counter will have other operating hours. For more information, please visit the city website or contact the desired department.
