We participated in the San Jose Eastside Cinco de Mayo Parade and Festival! About fifty-five MPESD educational partners joined the parade, including hosting a resource booth, and our elementary folklorico students performed onstage.
MPESD teachers and students were recognized by the Santa Clara County Alliance of Black Educators at the ceremony, Lifting Every Voice: A Celebration of Our Shared Legacy, which honored Spiritual Consciousness, Leadership/Civic Involvement and Academics.
We congratulate our band students, who had the opportunity to perform with some of the best bands in Northern California at the California Music Educators Association (CMEA) event. They earned a bronze medal, scoring a rating of "3/Good".
The Latino Literacy Project was inspiring! Led by Mariel Nuñez and Claudia Jones, this 10-week program for MPESD parents aimed to establish and support family reading routines, improve English-language skills and Spanish literacy skills, and strengthen parent/child interaction.
