Sanctuary Currents Symposium - April 26th

By now we are all familiar with our collective role in polluting the planet, the ocean included. It is a rare trip to the beach or tide pools, even here in the beautiful Monterey Bay, that doesn't involve the discovery of marine debris in some form. This year's annual Sanctuary Currents Symposium provides an exciting opportunity to bring scientists, managers, students and members of the public together to address one of the most important issues with respect to the Monterey Bay and beyond, marine debris.

Snapshot Day - May 3rd

On Saturday, May 3rd at 9 a.m., volunteers from San Mateo County to San Luis Obispo County will participate in the 15th annual Snapshot Day Event. This sanctuary-wide event provides a one-day "snapshot" of the health of the rivers and streams that flow into the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and California's marine protected areas.

The volunteers collecting this valuable information play a key role in our community as stewards of our watersheds and the data collected is used by resource agencies, local governments and community groups to protect and improve the health of our local streams. To get involved in Snapshot Day please contact Lisa Emanuelson or call 831-647-4227
