THE HALF TRUTH - PART 1

I have been told that all half-truths are lies. But what is a lie? It is a word or action that is purposely intended to deceive or to conceal the truth. A deliberate omission of a fact makes it a lie when it is concealed. A classic example of this comes from scripture in the story of Abram and Sarai in Genesis 12.

Abram and Sarai had recently settled in Canaan. When a severe famine came upon the land, they went to Egypt where there was food for them and for their herds.

But Abram was fearful as he had not yet developed the faith that God would protect them. He was likely 76-80 years old at this time, making Sarai 66-70. Even at that age, Sarai was a very beautiful woman. She was Abram’s wife, but also his half-sister, the daughter of his father, but not his mother.

Abram feared that the Egyptians would take Sarai because of her beauty and deliver her to Pharaoh to become one of his wives. If they knew that she was already married to Abram, he thought that they would kill him in order that Pharaoh could take her as his wife.

Therefore, Abram told Sarai to only tell them that she was his sister and Abram would also say the same thing. They would conceal the fact that she was also Abram’s wife. This was a half- truth.

Sure enough, that is what happened. They both claimed that she was Abram’s sister, and she was taken to Pharaoh to be his wife.

HOW TO LIVE A HOLY LIFE

The book of 1 Thessalonians is full of instructions about end times and also how to live a holy life. In chapter 5:12-22 it gives us some admonitions for holy living. They are:

1. Know who labors among you in the Lord. Get to know those that minister to you.

2. Esteem (treat) them highly for their work’s sake. Treat leaders with respect.

3. Be at peace among yourselves. (this would be in the church and outside the church).

4. Warn them that are unruly. They need to know when they are in error and be warned.

5. Comfort the feebleminded. Be a support to people with little strength.

6. Support the weak. Be strong for others when they have no strength.

7. Be patient toward all men. Do not be impatient with others. Be willing to give others grace when they do not meet your expectations.

8. See that none render evil for evil. Do not repay someone with evil.

9. Follow after that which is good. This is in the church and outside the church.

10. Rejoice evermore. Let praise be a daily part of your life.

11. Pray without ceasing. Always be in communion with God.

12. In everything give thanks because this is the will of God for you.

13. Quench not the Spirit. Let the Holy Spirit move in your life and in the church.

14. Despise not prophesyings. This means to not hate prophesying and to listen and be led by the true prophets through theirs prophetic voice, not just preaching.

15. Prove all things. This means to test all things before making decisions.

16. Hold fast to that which is good. Always stick with God and his plan.

17. Abstain from all appearance of evil. This is inward and outward.

When we meet these conditions, we are living a holy life and we can be confident that verse 23 will work in our lives. It reads, “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

This scripture promises us that if we meet the conditions in Verses 12-22 we can be looked upon by God as blameless. This should be our goal every day, and through doing it we will live in victory. It means living a crucified life with the one desire, and that is to please Jesus and not ourselves.

PROPHETIC WORD

AS GIVEN TO HELEN SANDERS

Just as the tender sprouts long for the spring rain and are nourished when it comes, so you, too, have been longing for the refreshing that only I can bring. The season has been very dry for you my child, but I have allowed it to draw you closer to me, for in my presence is the spring rain, the summer growth, and the fall harvest. Every season is important for you, which has brought you to where you are today.

For there is a moment in time when I would say come and sit at my feet. As you do that you will feel the fresh spring rain fall upon your dry and weary soul. It is the place where the fallow ground is broken up and you receive the water of life. It is the place where we meet face to face, and you feel my presence. My child, you must surely know that the season of dryness, or winter has passed for you and things will start to break forth in many ways for you. You will see the old gone and the fresh new start of something better than was.

For you have endured when others did not do so. You have pressed through the hard ground when others did not do so. You have been found faithful, and I reward faithfulness. So, let the spring rain fall upon you and enjoy it. You will see that it has been worth the trials that you have gone through to bring you to this place. You will see things grow through the spring and summer, and there is a harvest for you that you have never dreamed of. For, I, the Lord am bringing the spring rain. Believe it, receive it, and conceive it saith the Lord.

Now you may want to keep these wise words of Jeremiah 20:11 close by. “The LORD stands beside me like a great warrior. Before him my persecutors will stumble. They cannot defeat me. They will fail and be thoroughly humiliated. Their dishonor will never be forgotten”. So go in peace today; Knowing that our faithful God is with you now, He will be with you tomorrow; And He will be with you forever and always! Remember God won’t leave you; IF you don’t leave Him.
